Can anyone out there tell me what the process of getting a animal registered through A.K.C is -
We have had a female for a few years now and she just had a litter of pups. The mom was never registered and now we have a male - and he is not registered either. but i would like to start breeding her and the other female that i have - i know they are pure breed boxers but i don't have the first idea of how to get them registered or to start a family line. please help someone.....

Having imported a pup from USA, it would appear that you are given a form by the breeder of your dog with the deatils of the parents and date of birth etc. You then have to fill in a choice of name if the breeder hasn't already done so.

Without these forms I don't think you can register your dogs.

The AKC have a comprehensive websitee which should tell you what you need to know. just type AKC or American Kennel Club in a search engine like Google!

I don't know if they can be registered....but here's a place to start through the AKC
AKC - registration
I'm sure the site can provide all answers or at least a POC.
good luck,

Shouldn't the dogs have been registered as pups, were their parents registered? My friend has a purebred, but the parents weren't registered and she was told there is no way to register her. Thats probably why she never paid alot for her.

From AKC -registration
"The American Kennel Club registration system can be described as a cycle, which is repeated every generation. A convenient starting point is the registration of a litter. In order for a litter to be eligible for registration, the sire (Father/stud dog) and the dam (Mother/bitch) must be individually AKC registered and the litter must be whelped in the United States. Registration of the litter must be completed before any of the pups from the litter can be individually registered with AKC. "

So unless the parents are ABLE to be registered and Become registered, the puppies cannot get registered.
And just because they are AKC registered does not mean that these are healthy and perfect specimens of the breed standard  Sometimes it affects the price of the dog, other times the breeder is setting the costs to recoup expenses. It's just up to the individual on what to do.

Generations of dogs are bred and sold in the US with AKC papers. Only the breeders have the responsibility of health and conformation. The papers mean nothing except a genealogical record.
IMO and at the risk of starting a war  AKC registration affects little these days....if they ever have.... for the average pet owner. AKC has a reputation of being a beauty pageant, not a guarantee of quality. I think its trying to overcome this in the last few years with pressing for better health standards and tests.
Rant over ;) :D
