Who else has been effected by the 6 inch snow today??
It looks prety nice, but a half hour journey turned into 2 hours and a half to get into work for me this morning!! Roads are appalling, not gritted, skidding everywhere

My drive is almost vertical and i nearly skidded into the fence trying to get off it and that was with grit and the snow moved!!

Its manic!!

Nothing in South Wales .....thank god :-)
- By yorkies4eva [gb] Date 02.12.08 14:03 UTC
I have been wanting snow for ages, and when we got it i wasnt expecting this!!Not as bad as this, it looks pretty nice though :-D, but THATS IT!!  ha ha :)
- By gembo [gb] Date 02.12.08 14:58 UTC
We had a light sprinkly first thing but it's all gone now, thankfully! Driving to work was a nightmare!
- By Astarte Date 02.12.08 16:45 UTC
loads here in dundee to but not a crippling amount.
- By Granitecitygirl [eu] Date 02.12.08 16:47 UTC
Aberdeen is baltic!  They didn't have the gritters out until quite late so many of the roads were hazardous.  I've got to walk to the bus stop now to get home :-(

No snow here in East Ayrshire, but plenty of ice, pavements are treacherous as are the side roads.

Where my friend lives there have been several accidents today with the road not being gritted, cars just sliding all over the place and colliding with parked cars, bit of a mess.   I feel for the owners of the cars, not a thing they could do.   My friend phoned the council to ask why the road was not gritted, did not even get a sensible reply.

Watched some young children come  out of school and fall all over on the pavements, just a sheet of black ice, we had a lot of rain last night, then it froze.

Bet the hospital beside me has been busy today with broken legs etc.

We don't have snow in Cheshire but its bitterly cold - my hands are freezing as I'm typing this!! Our morning walk was fun this morning, everywhere was icy and we were all sliding around everywhere. Our road is a country lane and doesn't get gritted, it was very slippery this morning. We just have horrible cold rain now - I'd prefer snow!

Same here.  I believe that is why they cannot grit in those circumstances.  It just gets rained away.

Would love to see some snow here.
Next holiday will be in search of snow I think........

We got quite a lot this morning and then it has been snowing again tonight!!! Inspired to put my Christmas tree up!!
- By yorkies4eva [gb] Date 03.12.08 12:10 UTC
Still got snow here, and apparently tonight its supposed to be 8 inches, so i wont be even attempting to get to work if it is! LOL
Probably wont even snow now ha ha

No gritters were out with us thats why roads were so bad
- By Paula20380 [gb] Date 03.12.08 12:12 UTC
We have been forecast lots more it is supposed to start tonight and snow until Friday!! My daughter goes to school 6 miles away so she will be having a day off and I'll be working from home if it gets too bad!!

I am not sure how to do link,,, but if any of you have MSN hotmail look at the news pages title "artic blast". There is the most beautiful picture. It is a black horse galloping through the snow. It is fantastic.....

We don't have any snow :-((
- By perrodeagua [gb] Date 03.12.08 15:49 UTC
How come I live not that many miles from two of you and we don't have snow.  It has been icy all day and hasn't cleared at all.  Really cold but doubt that we will get snow, the pennines here in Manchester block it off for the South of Manchester so it is very rare to see it.
- By Pinky Date 03.12.08 15:50 UTC
Frosty and very sunny in Swindon. What's snow? We rarely see the stuff :(
- By Mini [gb] Date 03.12.08 16:08 UTC
I'm hoping that we get another 4 inches on top of the 4 inches we got on Monday night.  In short, i'm hoping to be snowed in tomorrow :)
- By goldie [gb] Date 03.12.08 16:34 UTC

- By Pinky Date 04.12.08 09:23 UTC
Monster rain last night :( Had to get up silly early at 5.30am to take OH to work, mustn't get the Harley wet!!!

Taking dogs out for tinkles in dressing gown wellies and raincoat, a vision to behold!!
What stands at the back door with an expression of 'if you think I'm going out in that you can think again? Yes the rough tough live in all weathers failed ex working BC!!
- By Whistler [gb] Date 04.12.08 09:30 UTC

Still no snow in Devon!! looks like rain today, and we have our edwardian christmas fayre on this evening, and it always rains!!would be very pretty to have a sprinkling of snow.
- By Whistler [gb] Date 04.12.08 10:14 UTC
Our BC had his hivis jacket on swimming, yes swimming after some ducks downstream in the Itchen Navigation at 6:30am, you really have a woosie!!
- By Pinky Date 04.12.08 10:43 UTC
Your not kidding she will tip toe around puddles, hide under trees and bushes if it starts to rain whilst out walking, but strangely she is the worlds best swimming doggie, she will launch herself into 12ft of water without a care and will swim under water to get stones or surf through waves at the beach. Strange creature!!
- By georgepig [gb] Date 04.12.08 11:02 UTC
Snow all over in Leeds but now its more like a sleet thats coming down.  Over 100 school shut - why????  Its not like there's 5 foot drifts about!
- By kayc [gb] Date 04.12.08 13:31 UTC
I am now totally cut off from the outside world :-)  a complete white out... cant see 20ft in front of me.. dogs are loving it :-)
- By yorkies4eva [gb] Date 04.12.08 13:38 UTC
Poored it down here over night and this morning, snow is still around though but the side roads and work car park especially are VERY slushy!! Very slippy still in places and my drive again was murder getting off it this morning and down the hill to the main road, almost slid into a car

Not sure, its weird isnt it how it was so bad here on Tuesday then in Manchester not even that far its not got any! Thats what i get for living in the middle of no where with the tumbleweeds ha ha :)
- By yorkies4eva [gb] Date 04.12.08 13:39 UTC

> Over 100 school shut - why????

I know!!! They were pridicting 8 inch this morning, but because of the rain it didnt happen and gritting helped, they shut all schools in Rochdale which is where i work and there was absolutly no need today!!
- By philly256 [gb] Date 04.12.08 13:40 UTC
We got some snow this morning.... I dont normally do snow but ive spent a happy hour or so watching my daft puppy trying to catch snow flakes in her mouth and then look bemused when theres nothing to catch ...very funny :)
- By bilbobaggins [gb] Date 04.12.08 14:00 UTC

Aw that looks so pretty....Snow is fab when its laid like that...its the horrible slushy icy death trap it becomes when it melts that I cant be doing with...and thats usually what we end up with where I live cos it never snows long enough for a good covering.
- By perrodeagua [gb] Date 04.12.08 17:07 UTC
WOW that looks great but brrrrrr freezing.  Just rained most of the day here and there's a thick black cloud on the horizon which I suppose is full of rain.  Has gone cold though in the last 15 minutes.
- By marie pritchard [gb] Date 04.12.08 17:43 UTC
Oh my goodness you weren't kidding, ive never seen snow that deep before! its wonderful.what a difference from the view here, grey cloudy skies! and muddy red fields.
