Topic Other Boards / Foo / Ill & bored at home - what to do
- By Freds Mum [gb] Date 03.12.08 13:26 UTC
Well, after feeling poorly and getting progressively worse last week my chap took me to the walk in centre on Sunday where i was told i had tonsilitus and an ear infection.
For the past couple days i've been in bed but now i feel better and well enough to be up i am getting bored. Im not ready to go back to work but im climbing the walls at home and am actually fed up with watching Jeremy Kyle, Loose Women etc etc :-)

So, what do you do when your too ill to be at work but well enough to be up (if that makes sense)???

ETA Obviously spending a fair bit of time on champdogs goes without saying!!! :-)

Write your Christmas cards :)

I love reading and would spend my time reading and surfing the net.

All the things that you want to do at home when you're at work!

I never really get bored at home, there is so much to do.

Writing your cards is a good idea. Or wrapping. Or get your Christmas shopping done online. Or make mince pies. Or cook a lovely nutritious soup to nurse you back to health. Or make fairy cakes. Or listen to music.

Hope you're feeling better soon :-)

I hate being ill at home I usually end up going in if I feel a bit better - I must add I own the business so its a bit different than most.
If I sit still I feel guilty, if I stay in Bed I get bored, Ive done my wrapping, not the cards yet but they have been purchased.
I tend to make a few cakes, get all the washing up to date and walk the houndrills of course. Its nicer in the sunshine but like this it is the pits.

You'll have to come down to Somerset.  The sun has only just gone for the day.  I've been walking under bright blue skies with just a fleece - there's no wind today. :)

Snuggle up in bed with a cafetier of coffee, pack of choc hobnobs & a good book! Lush! That's what I'll be doing on Friday....can't wait!

I know how you feel - I've been off for TEN WEEKS  at the end of this week and think I have actually gone slightly insane LOL.  Still got another week off then will be going in 2 mornings the week after.
You would have thought I'd be full of ideas of things to keep you occupied but sadly not (so I am also looking for inspiration hehe).
I have spent time online but keep running out of things to look for so I think reading may be the next thing to try.  Oh and I should probably start Christmas shopping at some point too....

I swear I'm not lazy, honest :)

Ive just walked the dog in torrential rain, hes wet and muddy Im wet and muddy and its still not 8am, no sign of the sun its not coming up in Winchester today. Now Im at work and I have to go on site at 10:30am if my coat and leggings are dry or not!!!
- By Carrington Date 04.12.08 10:16 UTC
I so, do not want to go out today, I'm looking at the torrential rain and feeling completely depressed about going out in it.  Why's my girl looking at me with pleading, "Can we go out yet?" eyes, is she mad? Can she not just enjoy running around the garden, nope, she wants to see me slipping and sliding all over the muddy fields and back.............can't wait! :-(

Freds Mum and georgepig, hope that you are feeling better soon.

I'm actually very rarely ill, (touch wood, wood, wood,) but when bored if not on CD :-D and not have enough energy to do anything fun like a bit of basketball, I'll paint, read or snuggle up to a good film, I think if I was feeling ill though, I would take the opportunity if alone to just sleep, or have a nice hot relaxing bath.

Hope that you are well soon. :-)

If, If I get left in peace I will have a hot bath and a face pack, plus a bit of manicure & pedicure. Tomorrow Im having my festive hair cut and low lights put in, that lasts until about May then its the sun that makes me feel better, hoilidays and back to festive hair. I do not need hi lights anymore with the grey coming on nicely...
I adore the shocked looks at the red and golden bits and the spikey hair, maybe a bit of purple this year.
My dogs love me no matter what, I just popped over the post office for a paper and got caught in a down pour, I had to giggle we had spent £165 on jackets this weekend so we would not get wet and I had no coat on!!! its still drying from this morning, 20 mins and Im going to get wet again in a forest in Titchfield (Haven) Im going mouldy!!!!!
Tonight 4 of us are visiting the late night xmas market and ice rink in Winchester Cathedral ground, and its going to be wet again... what a life... give me snow anyday, I could stay at home.

Ive a damp cocker on my feet ponging gently in the warm room, bliss.

I'm ok but not allowed back to work yet gggrrrrr.  Had a car accident at the end of September, nothing serious, but it means I haven't been able to go to the gym as I usually would or even enjoy the time taking the dog for lovely long walks :(  He's occupying himself eating all the snow in the garden at the mo!

Thank you every one. I am feeling a bit better now thanks.

I did spend an enjoyable afternoon in bed with a flask of hot chocolate and Freddie cuddled up to me while i watched some rubbish film :-)
Have wrapped Christmas presents as well as a few other bits and bobs, and looking forward to going to see my chaps daughters nativity play tomorrow.

I'm sure as soon as im back to work on Monday i will think of loads of things i could have done!!!
- By Astarte Date 04.12.08 21:53 UTC

*cuddled the dogs (lots)
*re-discovered bebo
*watched re-runs of frasier
*did a lot of baking to send treats to my surgical/anaesthetics team

and champdogged a lot

hope your feeling better soon, thankfully my tonisils were stolen away before i ever got tonsilitis but i understand its horrible.

lol, i'm not ment to be back at work till next week but i came back nearly 2 weeks ago. being ills so dull! especially when your just sore and not poorly so your not inclined to sleep all day
- By Dakkobear [gb] Date 04.12.08 22:16 UTC
I would just read, read, read and then read some more - I never get time to read anymore :-(
- By sandra [gb] Date 05.12.08 22:05 UTC
Neither do I Dakkobear, I love reading but just now I am so busy even if I get some time I can't concentrate. I've got shingles at the moment but still been at work due to workload and the time of month at my workplace, I've been contained in my office with no one to talk to but I felt so ill this afternoon I had to come home and slept. It is boring being off but if you have all ingredients to hand without popping out I would love to have time to make mince pies and bits and bobs for Christmas that I never get time to do.
- By suz1985 [gb] Date 05.12.08 23:47 UTC
thats what i would do to, honestly, if i ever win the lottery, a bookstore would be one of my first stops to buy all the books ive got my eye on!
- By sandra [gb] Date 07.12.08 19:18 UTC
Ohhhhh that would be great, the pick of books from the shop, a cosy Sunday, wine some snacks and a good book with the house nice and tidy candles on and pets cuddled up cosy beside me.
