Back on form me thinks :) :) :)
Lea :) :) :)

Lea, what were you watching?????? She was blooming awful, not as bad as earlier on in the year but still bad!
Can't believe Ruth is out. Diana needs to go her voice is really getting on MY NERVES!! JLS and Eoghan have to go too! Alexandra for the winner, but as it's already been said that it's been set-up and Diana is going to win it don't know whether I will watch anymore.

I thought she was miming too. Having been through some turbulent times it was nice to see her looking well and in control again. Fame and fortune at such a young age is not all it's cracked up to be.
I think that she may have been singing but there were so many backing tracks going on that you couldn't tell if she was or not!!
She looked good though!!

I thought she was terrible personally

I watched the xtra factor afterwards and they made comments about her miming. I was watching her lips and they were moving out of sync with the words that were being sung.
I have heard her live at a concert in Miami and she is not good, she was singing along to her song. She may fair well at singing if she wasn't moving and dancing all the time..Who knows...
But i have to say in her credit she looks a lot better now than she did earlier in the year with a shaved head etc and has toned herself up..

Agree she looks better and I hope she has her life back on track ( she has had a pretty tough time with mental illness and is still really a young girl) but even if she was lip synching it wasn't very good (was there some issue with the volume of it or was that just me :-D).
Miley Cyrus (Hannah Montana) was very good on the earlier show though - lets hope she doesn't follow the same road as so many of these young stars seem to.
I thought it was dreadful that Ruth has gone - Diana is a one trick pony and that trick isn't very good and Eoghan is just too cutesy for words - Alexandra has to win now surely? I may even have to force myself to vote (last time I voted was for Will Young - don't want to line the pockets of Simon Cowell et al with my hard earned cash too often)
Alexandra has star quality for sure! She has really shone in the last few weeks hasn't she? I know several have said that they like JLS but, nice as they are, they are vocally very weak. Ruth was one of the best singers and she has gone, so who knows who'll win!! :)

Hi Thought Britney was awfull, the song was terrible so that didnt help. She did look ok but I believe she has been starving herself to look thin infront of Cheryle. Why no close ups though the camera seemed to be miles away from her? we wondered if it was to hide the bad miming.
Dont really like any of the contestants any more. I really really dislike Alexandra, I think she is to full of herself. I would of prefered Ruth to have stayed and her gone. We joke when she is on "Yes simon, Thankyou simon arnt I wonderfull Simon blurr lol."
Thought Ruth was great at the end she cheered and was pleased for everyone who went through were as the others looked worried they wernt being called. She didnt fall into a heap and say her life was over which was good to.
Not looking forward to the final which is a shame as I normally like it. Dont you think Britney night was a bad idea her songs didnt suit have the contestants. Hardly fare was it?

I can't believe Ruth has gone. She was amazing! I don't think we've seen the last of her though. Not keen on Diana at all, but she's better then Eoghan, who is sickly sweet. Bleurgghhhh! Is he really 16? I wouldn't have thought he was any older than 12.
As for Britney, I thought she looked fab, but I thought she was miming too - and not very well! I suppose it would be difficult to sing and leap around like she does. Much better than Mariah though IMO. Mariah Carey makes me want to stick pins in my eyes.

can i ask what Britney's got to do with the x factor anyway!!!!!!!!!!

She's got to kick start her career somewhere and Simon has been to America so that must be the connection.
I thought Britney was her usual brilliant self and just as I expected her to be.
Nobody can sing (mime) a song badly as well as she does!!
Sad Ruth has gone and by the way 'I love Rock an Roll' was not a Britney classic, it was a Britney cover version and a poor one at that . The classic was Joan Jet and the Blackhearts.
When is Joe Public going to see sense and vote off that insipid little mouse Diana. If her winning is a done deal then I'm much miffed.

I loved Diana in the beginning, but she hasn't moved on like the others have. Alexandra has by far the best voice, but I am not sure she will be safe next week. I think the other three will have a bigger fan base who will vote.
How Eoghan is still there I really don't know. I am not sorry Ruth has gone, she comes over shouty and desperate to me.
Can't wait for next week, Il Divo are the live act and I am sure they won't be miming.

I thought Britney was rubbish last night, and I've noticed in pictures lately that she's all white teeth in her smiles but it just doesn't spread to her eyes. I just feel sorry for the poor girl
As far as x factor's concerned, Eoghan gets on my nerves - his hair is awful and his vocals are weak, JLS again are vocally weak. I've thought all along it should have been one of the girls who should win, though I loved Diana at first she's a bit too samey for me now and the way she sings yuuuuuu and duuuuuu drive me nuts lol

I loved Diana at first ithought how different she was to everyone else, but ive gone off her now, she sounds like a cat crying in the middle of the night.
I was sad Ruth got put out..Ive lost interest in it now, dont care who wins.

Keeping us waiting till late for that performance.

I personally dont like Britaney's music apart from Toxic and everytime...cos its just not my taste.
I dont really care wether or not she mimed or wether the song was awfull or not...
Im just happy to see a young girl getting her life back on track after all her illness and her breakdown and unhappy marrieage has been played out for all to see.
Yeah I know she is in the public eye and should expect the bad as well as the good, yeah I know she gets a shed load of cash for doing to some what may seem as very little...... and yeah at times she has come across as a terrible mother and out of control...
Good on her for getting it back together i say,i hope she is finally happy and i hope it lasts
This is just my opinion by the way....you dont have to agree with me and im not diging at anyone posting on this thread...just incase a row breaks out ...not my intention :) i just have great admiration for people who turn their life around for the better

Yes thats so true DawnR.....just dont like to cause arguments by people taking my opinion the wrong way thats all......i never mean to cause offence but sometimes differences of opinion do spark heated debates lol
Did you notice how Britney didn't answer Dermots questions?
She made no comments about the contestants or the performances at all - I suspect she wasn't backstage watching :0

It was reported the day before that she was having nothing to do with anyone just doing her performance and off. No interaction with anyone. Totally isolated dressing room/s with I think as much as 40 minders.
It's a tough one to judge as the girl is clearly genuinely had an awful year or so and clearly has very serious health problems. I do hope the help she is finally getting can keep her balanced for a her kids/family and of course secondly she is genuinely a talented entertainer. Considering her year I thought she did well as it would be hard for most to appear live again after some of the things and behaviour we have seen this year.
>Did you notice how Britney didn't answer Dermots questions?
And how he never once looked her in the eye, just kept looking at the floor. Don't know if he was just starstruck or was following instructions....

> And how he never once looked her in the eye, just kept looking at the floor. Don't know if he was just starstruck or was following instructions....
Following instructions according to radio reports, he was advised not to look her in the face or ask her too many questions!
I thought she was marginally better than the MTV awards things a bit back but she still isn't 100%, I was going to get tickets for her tour next year but I don't think I'll bother now. Poor girl, I think she should pack the whole singing/celebrity thing in & sort herself out once & for all.
I loved Ruth's version of Bon Jovi Always, I had tears in my eyes. Shame she's gone but I don't think she had a chance of winning it personally, she doesn't appeal to the mass audience as Alexandra, JLS & Eoghan do - I think it will definitely be between these 3 to win it. Diana will be out for sure next week!
I've really been enjoying X Factor this year & I'm supporting Alexandra all the way I just hope she doesn't spend her career in Leona's shadow! Maybe she could be a new member of Girls Aloud!!! Yeah!!

I thought she was miming, but i loved it,i think she looked her old self and is back on track now!! Go Britney LOL :)

I said that when i watched it, she was very stand off ish and a bit rude i thought, but not sure if she was supposed to be like that, a bit of encouragment to all the acts wouldnt of gone a miss though !

I just hope she doesn't spend her career in Leona's shadow! I hope that isn't possible , I would be suprised, if anything if Simon puts into Alex what he has Leona he is on a real winner. I think Leona is good but lacks something for me personally , A concert by her would be awful I think. She can sing but she isn't enjoyable to watch if that makes sense were Alex is..

Totally agree Blue, Leona may have a very good voice but she is painfully reserved and doesnt quite make that connection with her audience for me. Where as Alex seems to have an outgoing personality that is able to get into the character required for her songs and makes them beliveable whilst still singing well.

I agree with Blue's comment about Leona too. I find her painful to watch. Alexandra should definate win, she is the only one with any real talent left in. I am not sure she has the fan base of the others though to take her through.

I think Leona has an amazing voice with a huge range. I am not really bothered whether she has a huge personality or not - for me it is a singer's voice that makes me sit up and listen, I don't watch them to see how entertaining they are, or if they can dance well, or have a wonderful figure or wear the latest fashions, I listen to their singing. For me they don't have to be an all-round entertainer - I wouldn't expect a top athlete to be multi-talented in every field so not sure why a singer should have to be either :-)

A singer singing scales can be technically brilliant but not many people would choose to buy a record of it. The greatest singers are also able to convey the emotions involved in a song and make connections with their listerning audience.

You said it better than me Gillian :-) That's my point it is nothing to do with appearance, weight fashion but real emotion and believabilty..
A good example is Barry Manilow that man seems to touch the hearts of so many and his songs go on and on it is his passion and personality..
I think Alexander did "Listen" so well and she was total shaking so was do emotionally into the song. I preferred it even to the orginal. I think in time with the right recording records and investment she can fit right in with some of our really good legend females..
I went off X factor this year but listen in for her :-) and I have been impressed with Cheryl to. Think she has conducted herself very well.

Ah but I do think Leona sings with passion :-) Each to his own ;-)

She murdered the Snow Patrol song though :-( One of those songs that shouldn't get covered IMO.

> She murdered the Snow Patrol song though :-( One of those songs that shouldn't get covered IMO.
Didnt she just.....I like Leonas voice I think she is an amazing singer...... but her voice is not the sort of voice to be singing songs like that....The vocal acrobatics just spoilt what is usually and exceptional song.
I agree there are just some songs best left to the artists who originally sang them(with few excpetions) as covers seldom work..and deffo not in this case.....Snow Patrol should be cringing at one of their best songs being tortured like that ...I know I would be.....
Maybe the royalties they will collect from Leonas version will sweeten the blow
She murdered the Snow Patrol song though :-( I think some of you needs your ears tested LOL ;) -that song, sung by Leona, I'd say is THE best song to come out for more years than I can remember. Decades. Whenever it comes on the radio I can't do anything but stop and listen, I think it's absolutely mesmerising -spellbinding even, never heard anything as good! :)

Ah but I don't really like female singers ;-) (with a select few exceptions).

I agree with you on this one, i think she could possibly sing anything well, she is so talented and has such a big range if she wanted too, however i think what she does sing is fabulous!! Well deserved to be where she is now :)

I completely agree Marianne, Leona's version of "Run" is amazing - and I'm a big Snow Patrol fan too, I wouldn't say Leona had murdered their song. But then again - the world would be boring if we all liked the same things ;-)
Back to Britney on X Factor - I was sorely disappointed that she was miming and that she seemed so lacking in any form of personality when speaking to Dermot - ("Oh it was AWESOME!" - appeared to be the only words in her vocabulary!) However I think she looks great, and my OH agreed with me as I think you could see most of her derriere in those shorts!

I don't like Britney's new song - I was discussing this with friends, and we agreed that she should have come back with a more sophisticated edge to her - perhaps a couple of classy ballads and nice smart evening dresses might have had more of an impact !!
> and nice smart evening dresses
"Alice! Alice snap out of it!!"

You sound like my mum!! (Your only salvation is that you did NOT use the word 'Frock')
*Slaps Alice with a pair of Kate Moss Topshop Hotpants*
Or are you going to join us in being a Terry's
TOG!! :-D In which case there is no hope! But your in good company ;)
By AliceC
Date 02.12.08 20:40 UTC

LOL :-D Ha, I don't think I'm quite ready to be a TOG just yet ;-)
I'm sorry to sound like your mum - but I do think Britney would look lovely if she put certain bits of her body away and re-vamped herself into a classy diva !!
Just wish I could fit into those Kate Moss Topshop pants you slapped me with...... :-D

I had to look up what a TOG was! I'm obviously too young to be one in that case :-p
Britney did look fairly healthy and coordinated (regardless of the miming) compared to what she has been in the recent year or two - but I do think this comeback is too soon. "Time is a great healer" is the truest saying of them all, I'm just not sure she has had enough time. If I could get away with dressing like she did then I'd do it ;-)
