i know not everybody agrees with using crates/cages (whichever you prefer to call them) however the monster absolutely adores his, it is left open all the time - it's his bed of choice:) anyway - the monster is every increasing in size and cannot fit his big carcass in very well, he squeezes in anyway:D and won't use any other bed, I need to buy a bigger size and wondered if anyone can recommend one brand over another - i have just been looking online and its really hard to get a good idea of what you are getting for your money on screen. His present one is the Argos 'cheap as chips' range :D although seems pretty good to me - they don't do a bigger size - I don't want a humungus one either - i thought that the 36"x 25"x27" seemed about right (please do correct me if i am wrong) as he doesn't get shut in, he just sleeps in there? You are probably sick of hearing it, but for those of you that don't know he is a 7 month old gsd/collie at present about the size of a collie - so we don't actually know how big he is going to grow - he may well stay the same size! I've been looking at caninekennels.com site who supply to the RSPCA and MOD so i would expect them to be of quality perhaps you could all advise me which you prefer and which are shoddy? julie:)

Hi MD
I use the Croft cages/crates, and find that they are brilliant., a little more expensive though. There is also a company that does the black cages, i got my black on at paington, and it was £27. I do only have a cocker though !! Have you seen the advert in the dog papers, as they usually advertise the black cages on there..
HTH a little !!

Hi
I'm afraid that I can't remember which brand ours is but can I offer one piece of advice - I know it sounds rudimentary but you need not only a cage that is big enough to accomodate doglet but also one which the door acess is big enough for them to get in. The first one I ordered on the net was a big enough sized cage but the door opening was only half the sixe of the cage and try as hard as he might (he was desparate to get in), the Mock couldn't squeeze himself through the tiny door so it was useless. The one we have now is only a 3ft (36" by 24") but is ample big enough for my 12 month Dobe and he can actually get in as the door is as big almost as the width of the cage ..
I do hope this makes sense, it's one of those things that you know exactly what you're trying to say but think that it's coming across clear as mud.... ;)

I use a Vari Kennel Large 36"L x 24" W x 26" H, I believe it's big enough for a golden retriever. 2 of my boston's share one a night (since they can't be without eachother) and still lots of room, and my other one has it all to himself, it has a pretty big door to.

I got my crate from Stock Nutrition at the East of England Show. I went for one of the black crates because I like the idea of the plastic "drip-tray" for my pup, not that you'd need that.

I got a very good value double door black finished one from Moncaster, and it came next day!
I already had a 36x24 x 27 high, but bought a 42x28x30high one for putting two medium dogs in more comfortably when traveling and staying in a hotel. It was only £69 delivered!

Hi Julie,
I know this is an old thread, but I just wanted to ask what you thought of your crate from Ebay? I'm looking for a crate and have seen the black powder coated ones on Ebay from a place in Stoke-on-Trent. They seem much cheaper than, for example, the Croft cages I saw at Crufts. Has yours been okay for you?
Thanks,
Sarah

good luck muddydogs getting him into the new crate. One of mine out grew a crate he had since he was 8 weeks, we got him a larger one, and he still perfers to squash himself into his old favorite crate! Go figure!

Stock Nutrition do a good range of the cheaper black cages and they are pretty sturdy and good value.

I bought my crate from a show at Newark Showground:) It was such good value that I thought I'd go over last time I was there and get a business card for future reference- when I asked for one he gave me a sheet with their address and prices on- I couldn't believe it- he lives soooo very near me (small world eh;)) :o My crate- GSD size- two door zinc electro plated cost £56.50:D If you would like to tell me the breed/size of crate I could tell you how much it says on the price list:) Inc delivery mine would cost £63.50:)
