Can you explain a bit further, is she passing very hard stools, is she squatting and passing nothing, is she bleeding when she tries to pass stools, is she passing hard stools but walking around as she doge so or is it that she is not going at all?

Oh, and what is she fed?

Hi Nova , she is going but its the going that is the problem, it is not every day bt the last few odd days!! She strains so much, some times it is all stuck to her back side or there have been a few occassions where she passes and it looks normal but just strains .....

Pardon this,,,,,,,Its not like one large amount ( whole) it could be normally formed!!

My dogs had this problem when I tried on the "low output" foods :-(  I would look for a food that is at least 3% fibre or if you wish to stay with the one you are using you could add a small amount of bran, about a couple of teaspoons for a medium sized dog.

Sounds like a diet problem, try giving a little milk or if you can get it some liquid paraffin.

If there is no blood and she is not crying out I would not worry too much but do not give bones until she is going more easily
