The ladies trousers they used to make many years ago with the elastic or a strap under foot so they stayed in your boots....what were they called and do they still make them?

Ski-pants?

Thats what i thought but when i did a search it comes back with salopette type ski trousers.

I think that may be because they are not currently on the fashion scene :-)

Stirrup Pants

Thankyou both.

I would kill for a pair of those right now! I can't get my leggings to stay still when I put my boots on.

Used to love them! Only problem was they went saggy at the knees, though that was before lycra was on the go!
I had a pair of ski pants as a child and used to cry and cry because of my skinny legs the ski pants and leggings always looked baggy which made me look stupid :-) My Mum still made me wear them though
If only my legs were too skinny now!!!lol

Can't you just sew wide elastic to the bottom of narrow bottomed trousers?.......If I remember correctly that's all they were.

I remeber them :) mine always used to pull down so the crotch ended up to low :(
>I remeber them mine always used to pull down so the crotch ended up to low<
Yep, that happened to me too!!! They were great in some ways, but not if you were taller than average (unless you liked the 'baggy crotch' look)!! :-o

I have never experienced skinny legs myself I've never been that lucky.
Tree trunks are us :(
> (unless you liked the 'baggy crotch' look)!!
LOL, it's not a very fetching look and looks even worse if you constantly shuffle about at odd angles trying to pull them back up!!
They were great for not ridining up and exposing your ankles to the cold though, and perfeact for fitting wellies on easily :)

Talking of all things trouser
Can anybody remember what I used to know as 'Loon Pants'
Two tone Denim material, close fitting on the bum and thighage department and bellowing out to massive flares from the knee down, top half in one colour and flare part in a different colour.
What about Brutus shirts with the funny little pictures on or Ben Sherman shirts with the seam down the back, or 18 hole DM's with drain pipe Wranglers or 501 Levi's and lads with a bum to fill the jeans rather than the ground level crotches they wear these days.
Phew somebody hit me with a wet flannel:):):)

I knew it would be only a matter of time before they came back. Peg top trousers are also back and I will not be buying a pair of them in a great hurry. I am rather fond of ski-pants/stirrup pants. :D

That zig zag thing is terrible!! LOL but its kinda funny!!!
I remember those stirrup pants, mum used to make me wear them, i HATED them, always felt really stupid!!

Loon Pants...oh yes, velvet ones, that was my hippy stage!
Afghan coats, cheesecloth shirts (blouses).
Patchouli oil that everyone insisted was to cover the smell of cannabis, that made me wonder where they (adults) thought I could find that?
It was a few years ago too......
Karen :)

That was a nice suprise coming to find all these posts since yesterday, certainly made me laugh...........philly256 thanks for the link, just going to look now.
Can anybody remember what I used to know as 'Loon Pants'Didnt call them Loon Pants, but I think you are refering to something we call Bell Bottoms! Love em! I cant get away with wearing Skinny Leg Pants (ones that dont flair at the bottom and are tight on the ankles) since my legs have gotten so big since my surgeries and giving up dance.
I have like 5 pairs of flairs and a couple pairs of Bell Bottoms. They rock!

I clicked on that link and I was filled with horror imagining ladies who are several sizes too big wearing such items and the fabric being stretched to capacity, showing every contour and area of cellulite.

Or as my beloved puts it;-)
'An arse like two cabbages jostling in a carrier bag'
> Didnt call them Loon Pants, but I think you are refering to something we call Bell Bottoms!
No, 'Loons' were not just 'Bell Bottoms', if I remember rightly, they had no pockets and were usually made of cotton or velvet and were low hipsters without a waistband!! :) :)
Who remembers Karman Ghia jeans? Now they
were Bell Bottoms!!! :)

That's the ones, and what about 'two tone trousers' and Crombies or 'segs' in the toes and heels of monstrous platforms so that everybody could hear you clicking down the corridor at school, and David Cassidy hair cuts now that is sad.

Remember 'oxford bags'?

Dont forget the small shaped hankie Pinki in the top pocket of the crombie...and our brogue shoes and changing colour trousers.
I even wore my dads hat to look the part.
> Mmmmm, that Zig zag Jumpsuit would take a certain nerve :-)
goodness. that would give anyone a migraine.
you can get them in primark for about £5, i get filthy in the winter on my bike so they need washing every day, you can afford to have a pair a day though

I think they are called Ron Hills. My mum used to wear them years back when out walking the dogs with her wellies on. Hope this helps!

> I think they are called Ron Hills.
That's a make of sports wear and you can certainly still buy their running and cycling trousers of this type in outdoor and sports shops but the fashion ski pants were a little less technical just being a stretchy cotton or corduroy sometimes.

ok then, lets see who remembers Global Hypercolour t-shirts, the ones that changed colour with body heat?
I always thought they were a bit of a ridiculous idea, kind of 'hey, lets show the whole world I've got sweaty armpits - yeah!!'
Claire

You can also still buy sky pant for skiing in - lol. I used to ski in mine, I think mine were Killy and were brilliant, nice and flexible and made of a good strong fabric (hmmmm wonder where they went?). Apres ski they also looked good tucked in your moon boots (big fake fur ones of course).
I think loon pants used to flare out from just underneath the buttocks and get wider further down the leg and oxford bags were similar but with a turn up. Probably wrong - lol.
I see that harem pants are also back in, I used to have a pair in the 80s, what did I look like - lol.
