Was just wondering if anyone has experienced this with their dog, or have a idea what it could be..... i'm puzzled, though it doesn't take a lot!! yesterday we were out in the garden when my bitch looked like she was struggling with something in her mouth, she was frothing, i had a look and feel and couldn't see anything, gave her a treat a bit later a small biscuit, and it look like she was struggling to eat it and spat it out, very unusual as she is a greedy Lab,  she has never had a problem before this, and she had eaten fine that day.... didn't think anymore of it.

She has done the same again earlier this evening, and couldn't take food. Even though she has eaten in the day. She does change in her behaviour as well, looks a bit distressed at that time, it does appear to be something to with her mouth... not off her food as she is fine and eagerly waiting her dinner.

Might pop her to the vets tomorrow just to check shes ok? anyone any ideas?

Thanks
Hayley

Have you felt the roof of her mouth.  They can sometimes wedge a bit of stick or something spanning across between the teeth.  Is she managing to drink alright?

Hi, yes have checked the roof of her mouth, can't see or feel a thing. She is drinking normally.

Maybe something further down her throat.  I would definately see the vet as soon as possible tomorrow.

Hi it sounds similar to my bitch who started frothing at the mouth one afternoon and continued to salivate excessively over night.I took her to the vets the next morning and she had to be sedated for them to look in her mouth as she was quite anxious about being examined. It turned out she had an abcess at the back of her throat.

I had a springer who did this.. Neither myself of vet found anything in her mouth or her throat.. but this went on for 3 days.. I finally found the cause.. she had the minutest peice of wood wedged between two upper molars..(she was a chewer).. we couldnt feel it with fingers it was so small and jammed so tightly.. but it obviously caused her pain when trying to eat..

Years ago I had a dog who frothed at the mouth and it turned out he had a burr stuck up his nose which had to be removed by the vet.
