Muck Boot Derwents. And they have overnight shipping. :)

This will really sway you - my friend said mine were really attractive, nice slim profile compared to wellies. ;-)
- By Pedlee Date 22.09.08 10:42 UTC
This is where I got mine:

http://www.amirashop.co.uk/cgi-bin/sh000099.cgi?REFPAGE=http%3a%2f%2fwww.amirashop.co.uk%2f&WD=muck%20boots&SHOP=%20&PN=Muckboots.html%23aAE641106#aAE641106

Remember, it's the Derwent that has the better sole.

I do wish that Lori would stop posting all these links - I want some of those bargain Lands End boots now, and I wasn't even looking for boots!!!
- By Teri Date 22.09.08 10:46 UTC

> This will really sway you - my friend said mine were really attractive, nice slim profile compared to wellies

See,  you know the buttons to press Lori :-D  Now pondering if i have any friends that would similarly compliment or is is better to arrange a meet with yours ..... hmmm, well we were hoping for a double whammy of Pastoral and those yellow floppy eared whatsits  (KIDDING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) I know they're golden (STILL KIDDING!!!!!!!!!!!!)
- By Teri Date 22.09.08 10:50 UTC
I'm definitely swaying (whoops, too far, banged my head of the dresser)

> want some of those bargain Lands End boots now

Me too - but I still want Hunters (for home) and now seriously considering the benefits of Derwents - hmmmmmmmmm - are they still the ones that the legs can roll down???  And, sensible question, how cleanable is the upper part - mud et al?  Wipe down enough or more intense (remember I have mud missioned manic mutts)

ps Fortunately one moulting at moment so tearing her hair out rather than mine :-D
- By Pedlee Date 22.09.08 10:57 UTC
Yes, the Derwents do roll down. Now I would say the dried on mud is a little bit of a problem, but only very little! I find the best thing is to let the mud dry then brush off with a stiff brush (or a quick hose down/wash when you get back from a muddy walk). To be honest I rarely clean mine, I can't be bovvered!
- By Teri Date 22.09.08 11:01 UTC

> Now I would say the dried on mud is a little bit of a problem

Hmmm, gotta at least start off clean - in keeping with the 'smart but casual' theme :-D  Believe me, I have no expectations of remaining 'smart' for long a bit like doing my hair and putting on lipgloss before going out in rain and wind - even the delectable YSL (thanks Liv) doesn't cope with sand sticking to it :-D

Def have to be able to entirely clean off muddy legs ......
- By Lori Date 22.09.08 11:04 UTC

> yellow floppy eared whatsits

Oh so you've met them! LOL The ears are the only bit that stay yellow, the rest is a lovely sort of brown color.

Yes, you can fold the Derwents down. (no flashy orange bits though)
I hosed them off while waiting for the warm water to come through (yes spoiled mutts have a warm outdoor hosing after every walk) and they seem easy enough to clean. Remember I have golden whatsits and there is truly not a dirtier breed in the world than them.

I am so pleased I have you and Pedlee now considering boots you didn't need an hour ago. My work is down - bwahaha!
- By Pedlee Date 22.09.08 11:34 UTC
<The ears are the only bit that stay yellow, the rest is a lovely sort of brown color.>

Now with Esme (my yellow floppy eared whatsit) the ears, along with the neck and collar, are the first bits to get plastered, usually cow or fox poo in preference, but mud will do. And you aren't alone Lori, I've got 2 outdoor hosing stations with hot and cold running water - spoilt or what!
- By gwen [gb] Date 22.09.08 18:01 UTC

> I swore I wasn't going to get involved in this thread - no cash, no time, fat legs and "ooh is that orange?"  THEN to add insult to injury I start seeing factory prices!!Could you give us a teensy hint about location,  pleeeeeease

No problem, I am in he North East, and the Barbour Shop is in South Shields.
- By Lori Date 22.09.08 18:40 UTC
I've resisted going there so far Gwen but you're not making it easy. It's only about 15 minutes from my house so very tempting!
- By Teri Date 22.09.08 19:24 UTC
Ah - so Gwen identifies the source, Lori's resistance is waivering and I'm sat here writing out the orders :-D  Sounds like a cunning plan (or better still a done deal!)
- By Lori Date 23.09.08 07:08 UTC
This means only one thing Teri - ROAD TRIP! :)
- By Teri Date 23.09.08 08:01 UTC
Stranger things have happened hun ;)
- By tatty-ead [gb] Date 23.09.08 13:51 UTC
To everyone struggling to remove boots from sweaty feet - get a boot jack - they are usually plastic or wood and work with long or short boots and No clean sock against muddy boots :-). got about 3 round the place, daughter keeps one tucked in a corner of her van and they are usually just a couple of quid :-) :-)
- By gwen [gb] Date 26.09.08 19:52 UTC
Just been into TK Maxx today, and they had loads and loads of the Lowther Mucker Boots in green - for £9.99 !!! :)
- By Lori Date 31.10.08 14:27 UTC
Muck Boot update - they're still fantastic. And now they've  passed the ice test. Last couple days have been really cold - puddles all iced over. Today we were walking in hail. My feet and my legs from the knee down were comfortable and warm and that's with one pair of regular socks. So still getting the big thumbs up from me. :-)
- By Whistler [gb] Date 31.10.08 15:38 UTC
Had mine two years plus now and they still are great. OH has sucumbed after telling me wellies were just as good NO THEY ARE NOT ! Muck boots all the way.
- By Teri Date 31.10.08 19:38 UTC
Hey guys,

almost forgot about this thread (some might say - i.e. OH - that's a good thing :-D ).  Good to know the MBs are winning votes Lori - I'll expect regular updates on performance, comfort and the all important compliments ;)

Have invested soundly in the following THESE are great for the original purpose - waterproof, easy to put on/pull off, padded and fleece lined so pretty much the preferred daily choice, so good have a second pair for the windswept beach pursuits :); THESE just because they're SO darn cute but happen to be very comfy too and although sorely tempted by the Lady Ns (sore being the operative word as extra slim fit doesn't allow room for arteries  ) I'm very drawn to going back to my Aigle roots but getting the fasten up type this time ....... but these may have to be a Christmas gift to self (or OH, but alas not quite in his size  )

Sorted - whoooo whoooo!
- By sandra [gb] Date 31.10.08 21:52 UTC
It won't let me go to page one guys, but I kinda get the jist of the question. I have muck out boots from the muck boot company and they are the best boots I have had, totally resiliant to everything. I never have them off and I have head a variety of wellies and boots. My in laws bought me expensive wellies for crimbo and I have had them on once. Muck boots forever, one of our managers has an equestrian centre and his wife has ordered pink ones, don't know what colour of pink though, they sound cool. hehehehe

Hi Sandra,

where were you 6 weeks ago when input was desperately sought???? (and to be fair supplied in abundance LOL).  I thought that was me done and dusted and here you are showing up with PINK ones ...........  aaaaaargh, I'm strictly FORBIDDEN from searching out yet more doggy footwear :-D
- By suejaw Date 01.11.08 13:50 UTC
I am at a loss. Decided to get some muck boots today and went to 2 local stores. 1st one doesn't have small sizes. The other did, tried 2 different sizes on, one pair too short in the foot and the other to long and my heel was lifting up everytime i walk. Does anyone else get this with muck boots, does it cause a problem with sore heels?

I haven't been able to find somewhere local which sells Le Chameau or the Aigle(sp) as they both come up as good boots from all accounts. I don't want to buy online and have to keep sending them back and paying all that money for postage..

Any ideas of where i can try these brands of boots on in the Sussex area?
- By suejaw Date 01.11.08 14:04 UTC
Also what is the major difference between leather lined and neoprene and outlast lined boots for those who have had them?
I like the idea of leather lined but do they keep your feet warm and also are the soles cushioning?
- By Isabel Date 01.11.08 14:08 UTC

> I like the idea of leather lined but do they keep your feet warm

Yes.  I love not having to change into heavier socks when I slip mine on and sometimes don't bother with socks at all.

>are the soles cushioning?

No.  I suppose you could maybe put a cushioned sole in but I have worn mine for long walks and never felt them uncomfortable.
- By Balibee Date 01.11.08 15:36 UTC
Totally with Sandra on this one.  I have the Muck Boots too

Totally toastie warm/Comfy and they take a battering up the stables with the muck heap/field runs etc and they are still as waterproof/Comfy as they were when I first bought them.  Never have sore heels etc and because totally stretchty you can put them over the bulkiest Jeans/Trousers etc and they fit perfectly

:)
- By Lori Date 01.11.08 16:47 UTC
I've never had leather lined but mine are lined with neoprene and they're very comfortable and very warm. They have hiking boot like soles with a neoprene liner that turns into the top of the boot.

I love those furry ones Teri. Hm, crimbo is coming and the OH is asking what to buy me. :)
- By sandra [gb] Date 01.11.08 18:49 UTC
I know Teri, I can't wait to see them whooopeeee. I got my chameau wellies (mum in law pressie) from an equestrian centre 5 mins from us in Prestwick, they are brill too but as said before only had them on once. I just can't take off my muck boots, I'm addicted. I have worn them that much the heels inside have worn away a wee bit bit I wear good socks so didn't notice until I had thinner sock on and it rubbed :-(

Suejaw why not call the muck boot company and ask for a stockist near you, the general manager in one of my branches has just recently started to stock these after I told them how great they were and he is a family business, there might be someone like that near you instead of a larger outlet.

Let us know how you get on.

Hey do we get commission???

PS. I recently (5 wks ago) tore my ligaments and the only thing that was comfy while trying to walk after a couple of weeks were .... yep MUCK BOOTS. They were really stable for my ankle but took about 10 mins to ease off, my poor wee ankle fely incased and safe as the boot is trainer like and really sturdy without being cumbersome.

I am applying for a reps job hehe

Teri,

What are the Yard master boots like on sizing i.e. are they on the large size.
I have fairly wide feet and one is almost one size bigger than the other so I normally have to have a 1/2 sizing option.
Which the yardmaster doesn't have...

So would you say that they are generous on their sizings or would you think that you'd have to go up a size.
Also thinking of the thicker thermal socks worn too...

Have a pair of walking boots but the darn laces keep coming undone so velcro boots are very appealing!

Any help gratefully received.

Wave to Ali who has been quiet again :-)

I am going to go order these right now :-)  I keep saying I will but I will right now :-D

Teri,

Good question..   I am a 5.5 really but have to generally buy 6s..

Await Teri's response to.

Teri I feel a commission coming on :-)
- By Whistler [gb] Date 03.11.08 10:04 UTC
Ive also got these in the boot of his car in case I get the wrong car. I love these as well great for the early mnoring stroll, wind in your hair type, a nice pair of yardies are also great.
- By Whistler [gb] Date 03.11.08 10:05 UTC
Im a 7 in yard boots but I buy an 8.
- By Blue Date 03.11.08 10:30 UTC
Hi Whistler,

Thanks for that info. Can I ask do you buy the 8 for extra socks or just because of the natural fit?

I have held off ordering them till today.

Thanks
- By Whistler [gb] Date 03.11.08 11:10 UTC
For extra socks they have a padded insole so i needed the extra fit for socks.
- By Boxacrazy [in] Date 03.11.08 20:50 UTC
I'm ordinarily a 6.5 for normal shoes/boots...so would I be better to go up to a 7 for yard boots?

I'm fed up with getting blisters on my soles of the feet when I wear the wellies when walking the dogs out.
So I want a nice pair of waterproof boots that won't give me blisters that don't cost the earth..
Don't want much do I??
- By Whistler [gb] Date 04.11.08 12:05 UTC
Wandered around the field this morning with my boots on, velcro pair cause Im driving. Waterproof trousers keeps my office ones clean, ratty old fleece. Whistler headed straight for the pony field - yep pooh covered. Got to work about 7:25ish, washed me dog off, peeled off boots, fleece, w/proof trousers. Sat here with my warm toastie dog sat on me feet smelling of warming pony pooh. Lifes good with a cocker!!!
But, Im clean underneath!!! My problem is with having two cars (well truck and a car) making sure I have stuff in each car for dog walking. Ive walking boots, muck boots, velcro muck out boots, w/proof trousers, coats, fleeces all over the place. OH walks in so I have a bag with his good work stuff and his shoes plus a suit if he is off to London. Dog crate, balls, frisbee, seat belts for dogs, seat covers, pooh bags we need a truck just to walk them. Anyone got an answer to buying everything double so a set of each is in each vehicle? Not to mention dog towells in both places and dog beds, chewey bones, dental sticks and dogs!! It was easier with kids. Normal people probably know where they are day to day but I assure you builders dont.
- By Teri Date 12.11.08 11:37 UTC
Hi Boxacrazy

> What are the Yard master boots like on sizing i.e. are they on the large size

definitely on the neat side so I'd recommend you go up a size - and that's without thick socks :)  I don't like thick socks preferring shoes/boots that keep my feet warm rather than adding layers.  I normally take a 5 or 5.5 depending on width but as no half sizes available I bought these in a size 6 and they are comfortable with ordinary socks as they're fleece lined, but certainly would pinch if worn with thick socks.

I must say I'm delighted with them - I've been away for 10 days being throughly weather beaten at the beach and they've kept my feet toasty warm, dry and blister free walking on all surfaces and even through water :)  Plus the velcro straps make life MUCH easier than laces!

HTH, Teri

Ya'd think Blue, wouldn't ya :-D

Hi Lori,

> I love those furry ones Teri. Hm, crimbo is coming and the OH is asking what to buy me.

Slight warning - the furry ones are very generous size wise compared to the other ones so I'd say if your an in between size go for the small one rather than move up.  Mine are a bit on the big side but they were out of stock on the size down anyway and patience is a virtue I lack :-D  They are SO comfy and easy to pull on and off and everyone has admired them (the important part of course!) but I have resorted to otherwise hated thermal socks with them to prevent rubbing.  Having said that I've walked miles in them and they're ACE!

Cute rules ;)
- By goldie [gb] Date 12.11.08 12:41 UTC
HI
I got a pair of muckers last weekend from cotton traders...wellie soles and sweade uppers with furry lining..velcro strap.
Lovely and warm and comfy.
OH its called a wilderness boot...nice and wide to tuck your jeans into.
- By Lori Date 12.11.08 12:46 UTC
Thanks for that. :) I'm glad I won't have to sacrifice comfort to be cute. :-p
- By Boxacrazy [in] Date 12.11.08 18:51 UTC
Thanks Teri,
It really helps at least I won't be having to pay two lots of delivery costs as I had to order and send back a pair
as they were the wrong size LOL.

I like very much the comment 'blister free' and toasty warm!!
Oooh that sounds like heaven

Off to buy a pair :)
- By melster122 Date 13.11.08 17:48 UTC
I have just bought a pair of Thermal Boots from the Tchibo website.  They are waterproof, windproof and breathable.  They are dirt and water-repellent thanks to Teflon fabric protector.

I haven't tried them outside yet but they are sooooooooooo comfortable and only cost £17.99.  Will let you know how I get on.
- By Teri Date 13.11.08 19:36 UTC
Aaaaarrrggghhh - now me and Lori and heaven knows who else have to spend more, and more, and more :-D
Begone satan and your ways of temptation (aka Visa, Amex, Maestro, Mastercard ........... )

- By Teri Date 13.11.08 21:25 UTC

- By Lori Date 14.11.08 15:12 UTC
Ooh Teri, you really are and evil temptress! :)
- By melster122 Date 15.11.08 19:21 UTC
Haven't been out in the rain yet with my new Tchibo boots but went out today in them and they are so comfortable (just like wearing slippers lol) and the mud just brushes off them.  :)
- By Lori Date 24.11.08 12:06 UTC
OK Teri, the final environmental tests were run this weekend and I feel the need to be complete in my report. :) Saturday we were in the dene in icy conditions. My Derwents passed the river crossing test - walked across the river using the slimy rock stepping stones, a couple were still submerged and emerged on the other side dry and vertical. Sunday walked to local park on ice and snow covered pavement and roads. Once again good traction on the icy pavement. My feet were nice a toasty both days - still wearing my standard cotton boot socks (nothing special or extra thick)

Last week we ended up in knee deep mud while trying to avoid some vicious beasts. They mud was so sticky it would have sucked looser wellies off my feet (has happened to someone I know in those trenches) but my Derwents hugged my tootsies and clung on. Added bonus - the neoprene leg is snug fitting rather than loose so you don't get dirt falling into the tops of yer wellies when submerged in muck.

Haven't tried them on hot coals but as unlikely to come across those I'd say the Derwents have passed all of the obstacles in the UK Trek Test and get two thumbs up for being great dog walking wellies in all terrains and weather conditions.
- By Teri Date 24.11.08 12:10 UTC
Now I feel like the under privileged poor relation :-p

I Need Derwents, I Want Derwents, GottahaveDerwentsevenifonlyforwatchingthecelebsinthejungle :-D

Now THAT'S what I call a report sweetpea (even though it's gonna cost me/ok OH ;) )
