Angela Its about a Puppy Farmer, who has repeatedly flouted the law....I am sure we all happy to see this sort of thing made public.

I'm with you jackbox. Why would you be upset to have a horrible puppy farmer exposed.

Yes, I think this was a very positive item. They differentiated between this and reputable breeders.

Is it on all bbc1 channels? Because that's not what is on mine

It's just finished - but follow the link I gave - the BBC has gone a little way, imo, to publicising the horrors of puppy farming - and the article itself is quite informative for the general public.

Ok, I only watched the last 10 minutes, something about beauty treatment, so it must have been on earlier?
Will go read the link instead :)

Could you all read my thread on puppy farming/milling and then give me some advice

It's a bit unfortunate that they have chosen the RSPCA advise which states
- Never buy from an unlicensed breeding establishment.
as it does not indicate that many reputable breeders are not licensed because they do not need to be and naturally, I would have prefered that the KC was the agency chosen to advise.

as it is already in the public domaine - ie BBC and Waverley District Council have named the guy - I am naming him too - his name is JOHN LOWE he has already been convicted and barred from breeding (had hisbreeding licence taken away by Waverley District Council - yet he is still breeding unhealthy puppies.
I'm hoping that this post will remain in place: then if the unsuspecting public google puppies, then as we know CD comes up very quickly in all the search engines, and this thread with the link and his name can be seen.
If only one family doesn't get a puppy from this man because of this post/link, it will be a small step.
Please see thread above for link
Margot
The puppy buying advice from the RSPCA is a bit strange on a couple of points isn't it-and totally wrong-the bit about only buying from a licensed breeder -and also only buying a vaccinated puppy.None of the puppies I've had were vaccinated as I bought them at 7-8 weeks.

I thought it was a good programme highlighting be it briefly... a puppy farmer I googled his name and info came up for the previous porgramme they had done on him but apparently he is still producing litters.
It looks as if he also treats the animals badly as they panicked when he went into the pen.

Take it back Apologies BBC! (that really grates!lol) and all champdoggers! It was the 'breeder' in the title got me I wouldn't use that term to describe him. That poor bitch, hopefully people will pay heed to the advice given on the programme.
Angela

Good thinking Margot :-)

Why would you be upset to have a horrible puppy farmer exposed.
I'm quite appalled to have that you would think that of me!
Angela

he always has german shepherds and yorkshire terriers advertised in my local paper.

Maybe it would be a good idea to tell the papers he is banned from breeding?

there is no name, just a telephone number, if he is getting away with breeding under a different name I dont think I would have a hope of getting the papers to stop him advertising.

What a load of cr*p coming out of that man's mouth. Saying you cant handle a pup or the mum will attack it. This means the pups have had no handling and nearly no contact with people. Witch in turn means the pups are already on the road to being no good as a house pet. Poor little things . I myself would never go near any puppy's that are not raised in a family home . If they are locked in a barn or out building all the time, then they are as good as feral .

That is exactly what I thought when he said it.The poor mother of the puppies, body language said it all.He must be one really nasty man.As for those poor beagles that made me cry.
They said what most of us already know that the more people buy puppies from him and others like him this will carry on .Something really needs doing to stop it.

Anworth
I never mentioned Breeder in the posting :)
I dont imagine for one minute those puppies are nursed by humans but he tells that to the prospective buyers as a ploy to tear at the heart strings to push people to buy the pup .

He is advertising Chi x yorkies this week :(
(spelt chuhua !!)

Missed the programme, but just read that link, i am so angry with him!!! I want to literally wring his neck, sorry people, but it really makes me so angry how somebody like that has been getting away with it for so long even after the first time he was caught!!! ARGH Stupid horrible man, how distressing for the people who fell into the trap of buying from him :(

Can someone not write to the paper or something or write an advert advertising not to buy from him? Not sure how it would work, but he needs to be stopped, this is terrible

I will drop them an email when I have a min, see if they will print it in their letters page.
> I will drop them an email when I have a min, see if they will print it in their letters page.
Good on you girl! Makes me so mad it really does, i just hope more and more people realise and get the knowledge about these farms and stop going as thats the only way they will stop!

If this man was banned from breeding by the law, does no one ie the police make random checks to make sure that the law is being obeyed. If not, why not? No point in having a law if no checks are made. A complaint to the Police might not go amiss. Surely he should be fined at least, a large amount hopefuly.

claireys, i beileve he is using his daughters name as the breeder she is forever in spain but tells would be puppy buyers that she is on holidays and that he is only the caretaker of the dogs until she returns witch she never does, we have such a puppy farmer around this way also that uses all the same tactics as mr lowe,re who the farmers and owners are etc.
By molly
Date 20.11.08 14:54 UTC
starryeyes oh definately a ploy to pull at heart strings, once you have handled one of his puppies its as you have paid your deposit, and if you do notice that the puppies are full of fleas worms and skin infections etc in his sick mind the puppy has been sold so could not possible be put back with mum.

I know that, that is why I said there is no point me complaining to the paper that he is banned from breeding because he is breeding under someone elses name.
By molly
Date 20.11.08 15:58 UTC
claireys, ooh so you did mention he could be breeding under someone elses name, apologies i somehow missed that,in that case surely his daughters name may be used for the papers, as the so called breeder on the property thats all i meant.
By Merlot
Date 20.11.08 16:00 UTC

As far as I understand the licencing rules it matters not one jot whoose name he is using it is the property which does not carry a licence to breed.
Feel free to correct me if I am wrong?
By molly
Date 20.11.08 16:11 UTC
i do not personally know anything about licensing for dog breeding , but i have just been told that you could be right there, that it would be the property so therefore complaints could be put in the papers etc as he has already been convicted in court.

reporting him is probably a waste of time and energy but to name and shame as the TV programme has done works but only for the short time it has to be plugged again and again for it to get through to the public.
Maybe if the daily newpapers got a hold of it .
If we all seperately email the daily's on the same day so that they recieve a massive amount of emails on this bloke then they may look into it but the odd email here and there means nothing .
By molly
Date 20.11.08 17:59 UTC
starryeyes i think your right about the odd e mail here and there but i like the sound of inundating the papers with e mails it all counts, hopfully the tv shall do more of these programmes as we all know there are plenty more puppy farmers out there they could report aswell as him, down here some people protested outside the property and stopped potential puppy buyers going in after showing them pictures of what the puppies were living in.
