my next question is about naughty cookiemonster (GSD/Collie). he is now coming up for just seven months,
and has recently started screaming his head off as soon as I go to get the leads, and then all the way up the road until we reach the fields/park or whether we are going. He doesn't do this if I take him out on his own, just when all three dogs go together, its like a baying before the hunt kind of thing? It is driving me mad. I have tried putting his lead away and not taking him when he does it, ie he doesn't get the reward of the walk - apparently he screams his head off the whole time i'm out if this happens (neighbour told me:() I've tried the water squirting - he actually seems to quite enjoy this:( - shouting doesn't work either. I get him to sit before having his lead on and he has to sit and wait before we set off, as soon as we move off he starts. I have started to use a gentle leader to try to shut his big gob ;) not because he pulls (unlike decoy!) He has also however started to lunge forwards as we go the cross the road and to fight the gentle leader, shaking his head and clawing at it. I think it is excitement, but it is still unacceptable behaviour and would welcome any advice as I do not want him to continue this habit. thanks julie:) of course my husband's little soldier is perfect - so i don't need to ask anything about him ;)

I have absolutly nothing constructive to offer you :) but you have made me feel loads better today ,to know that I am not the only one who walks her dog just to amuse the neighbours is of great comfort to me :D
Liz ;)

ROTFL
Have to say ..made me feel better too ..Hudson is having a*testosterone day* :( After having my 2 older sons here for a few days to play with he now thinks he is the boss of everyone ..so we have had him out in the garden 3 times so far (the old no eye contact and ignoring him until he sits quietly thing). Trouble is ..because he is being bolshi he is yipping and yapping and wooing for AGES before sitting down :D
I love my neighbours , I really do..........
:D

hang on dot! - how could i forget someone else in this - 'bugs' is bunnyhopping for all his might, the 'banshee' has worked himself up to a frenzied pitch! and then......as if glued, to heel, trotting on dainty paws, tethered only by a single strand of spider's silken thread gathered in the morning dew by fairies - is 'daddy's little prince'!!:D:D - I don't have jealousy issues with my husbands dog - really I don't..... :D julie:)

Julie,
Do I remember right that you needed new dog beds recently? and Daddy's little prince had nothing to do with the damage of course  You have to ask Daddy to teach you how to raise princes like his :D :D

you do remember correctly dot - do you know the most annoying thing of all - his dog has never ever been trained, not one class - nothing, when he got him he said that his dog was going to be a (and I quote) 'free spirit!' and wasn't going to be 'square bashed' at obedience classes!!! :D bloomin cheek! and I DO hate to admit it (and certainly never would to him:D) but he is sickeningly well behaved! and although 'daddy' wouldn't have it I am convinced he took part in the shredding of the beds and actually have proof - fluff in poo! He sits on my husbands lap and gives me really smug looks!

julie:)

I would go with the not taking him, but notleaving him behind, just sit back down, or return to the house (bit unfair on the others I know, and very inconvienient for you).
If this works, but he starts up part way to your destination, turn on your heel to walk back home, if he stops turn around towards the park again, similar principle to the pulling getting nowhere!
My friends Border Collies do this in the car, but not when I am there, as I used the water pistol on them (practically drowned them the first time), and now they are quiet up to the time she rounds the corner in the car after dropping me off. dogs are bright aren't they!!

thanks all - i saddled up and readied for the off earlier, and he started his usual baying so i didn't say anything I just took off everyones headcollars, harnesses etc, and put them away and sat down. they all looked at me like i had lost the plot :D cookie kept running to the leads then at me full pelt to try to chivvy me up to get me going again and i waited for him to settle and we tried again, got as far as the hall this time!!! so abandoned the walk completely - am going to try later and see if penny drops!:D thanks julie:)
