Topic Dog Boards / Health / Sick puppy -advice needed

On Saturday my Tibetan Terrier puppy, 6 months, was vomiting and had chronic diarrhea which contained blood. I took him to emergency vet and he given synolux injection and IM,IP,SP injection. We came home and he continued to pass red liquid. I was told by vet that this was a byproduct of the stamoch fighting infection. He is on salazopyrin (1/4 0.5mg tablet every 12 hours) and protexin pro kolin which is now finished. I started feeding chicken and rice Sunday as the diarrhea had stopped but he still has not passed any stools. He is not straining either but I am concerned how long a puppy can carry on without passing.
Does anyone have any similar experience or advice they feel may help.
Thanks.

Another poster had a similar experience very recently.  It does take a while for the bowels to fill again particularly when you consider we deliberately feed foods with a lot residue when the system has been upset.
