Hi
My bitch gave birth to 2 girls and 4 boys last night she carried on pushing for 2 1/2 hours after the last puppy then out popped a little girl but her back legs where deformed and she had no tail or bum just a little pin prick has anyone else had this before?
All the others are doing really well

> or bum just a little pin prick

Do you mean a partially imperforate anus?  It sounds like the development has been interrupted as it progressed down the spine.  Has she been PTS or has the vet suggested anything can be done.  I would think not, personally, I'm afraid :-(

Poor little mite.  It's best she didn't suffer.

I have seen it in lambs when I used to farm and it occurs in human babies too. Glad your other pups are doing well.

how very sad for you and for poor mum, i hope she is coping with the others, and they are all fine.
many tears rescue had a poodle x pup with a very small anus a little while ago, nicknamed billy no bum....he had to be kept on a special diet, thats all i remember im afraid. I assume this happens in crossbreeds alot, especially if the 2 breeds are different sizes, they take on different features??

Ive heard of this in a rottweiler. A friend of mine had a litter of 13 rotty pups and one of them was born with no tail and no bottom at all. The owner took it to be put down straight away, the vet said it was because there were too many big puppies and the mothers diet hadnt been good enough to finish off its developement properly, it was an accidental pregnancy in a 8 year old bitch so her age might have played a part in it too. Im sorry to hear about your pup but its good she was stil born and didnt suffer at all. Good luck with the other ones.

My best childhood Friend had this with her first child.  she needed an op to bring her bowel down and have the opening made.
