Well i gave Alfie his first chicken leg last night, his first bone!! It was quite disgusting watching as im quite queezy when it comes to raw meat but im convinced its the best for him now.

Im still awaiting the arrival of my book so i can read more but thought id change now as i know we'll be keeping it simple to start off with!

He will still be getting half of his diet as the Nature diet as i have two boxes left and need to use it up!!! So he'll be having half his diet raw for now till its used up.

Alfie is 18.5 kg at the moment and 5 months old, so how much raw would i need to start him off if its 50% of his diet??

I am starting as most, on chicken for about two weeks, then ill introduce something else but what should i ask for at the butchers for the next two weeks??? ( i never go to the butchers so that will be a first! ) I understand i need a certain amount of bone but how do you work out what percentage you are giving if the bone is meaty too??? ( hope that makes sense? )

Does anyone care to devise my first weeks diet plan for me??? It would be a great help and ease with the nerves!!

Do a bit of shopping around different butchers. Not all of them can get chicken carcasses etc. and some are cheaper than others. (You will probably find legs are too small for him soon, especially as he gets more keen.) We use one butcher for hearts, liver and lamb bones etc. just had 12kg of hearts for £12 from him. And another butcher for the carcasses because he is one of the only ones that can get it from their processor. Fresh tripe is usually best found at an abbatoir, but I must admit I prefer to by the frozen chunks. I'd suggest sticking to chicken for a week before introducing new foods.
http://www.krisannriorawfeeding.com/pashasfooddiary.htm You might find that useful. I know your pup is alot older, but it'll give you some ideas about changing. It certainly helped me changing my adults over. Have an explore around the site. Good Luck
