Topic Dog Boards / Showing / cut off date for crufts

Hi, when is the last possible date to qualify for crufts 2009? and when does 2010 qualifying begin? just out of interest!
- By LucyDogs [gb] Date 09.11.08 21:27 UTC
I think it's either LKA or the new Boston show. Then it's either Boston (sorry!) or Manchester. I don't know whether Boston is the last 2009 or the first 2010 I'm afraid!!

The cut off date for qualifying is has been the last day you can submit an entry for many years.  I dont know if they have changed it but that is what I have gone from.  As for when the qualifying begins again I have no idea.  I always think to myself that I only qualify if the show has taken place after crufts itself has happened but I dont show much in the months before it anyway.

If I am wrong someone please put me right, but I have never been refused an entry working like this

Emma

Edited to say just found this in the qualification bit

7 January 2008 and 5 January 2009 for 2009 crufts (postmarked entries close on the 5th january)
So I guess from the 6th or 7th onwards for the 2010

The last date to qualify for Crufts 2009 is Jan 5th 2009.
The onlines entries close Monday 12th Jan,which is 5 days longer than normal as it used to be 7th Jan.

Boston used to be the last qualifier for that year (thankfully, last year I had my boy in the second half of the year so missed most of the champ shows with him. He was chucked at Richmond, 5th at Midland Counties, kennel cough for LKA so didn't go, then qualified 3rd time lucky at Boston! Skin of his teeth! Of course, never doing anything by halves, he then got a 2nd in an enormous class at Manchester the next week so qualified for 09 straight off the bat...!) but now that it's on the group system and has more breeds scheduled it seems to be a qualifier for the next year instead.

I thought Boston was a qualifier as my oldest dog qualified for the YKC finals there.  Is this not still the case?

It is a qualifier but in 2007 & 2008 it was the last qualifier for the year (so Boston in January 2007 qualified for Crufts in March 2007 and Boston in January 2008 qualified for Crufts in March 2008) and this year it's the first qualifier for the next year - so Boston in January 2009 will qualify for Crufts in March 2010, rather than 2009.

Boston is a week later - that's why it doesn't qualify for Crufts '09

That would explain it! I made a note of the closing date for entries because I knew it would be this month, but didn't even look at the actual show date - I can't think about after christmas yet!!

Are they going to stick with that weekend now I wonder? Be interesting if some years it's going to be earlier so qualify for that years Crufts and other years later so qualify for next years!

Edit: I just actually looked at the schedule (novel idea, I thought...:-P) and I see it's a 3 day show now instead of 2, so I assume that's why they've moved and thus it will stick with that week now
