my old girl is nearly 11 years old she is very long coated and solid black, the past two plus years she has developed hot spots we have done everything to get rid of this, it just seems to take longer to heal  the older she is getting i wondered if there could be any effective home remedies that could be used if she gets it again next summer, as the last one looked very sore and angry, luckily it has not spread as i have been told it could but, it is  always is in the same spot any advice would be gratefully appreciated to try and prevent it for next summer. thankyou in advance for any help.

We had an unexpected one this year. Never experienced them before.

I used hibiscrub to clean the area daily and then made sure that i dried the area completely after each clean, it went away after about 1 week of doing this.

Benzyl Benzoate but make sure that you get the hair out of the way first before you apply it because it will just scab over. :)

Giving sulphur can help in general with their skin, hopefully reducing the likelyhood of hotspots.  I use Calendula cream on them until they heal up.

My Rotties get these, if we spot them early...
shave/clip the area, so the air can get to it, clean with a dilution of hipiscrub (available at vets or boots), and then spray with Daktarin athletes foot spray. Dries out in a couple of days.

First time we encountered this our girl was in kennels, and it took a further 2/3 weeks of vets appointments and fuciderm cream before it started to heal. I got the tip about the daktarin from Champdogs, and it works a treat.
