Milk added to water means that the dog is more likely to have a drink, so will be more comfortable and not thirsty in a strange environment.

CC stands for Challenge Certificate - a dog needs to win three of these from three different judges to get the title of Champion.
JW stands for Junior Warrant - a certain number of points are awarded for different wins at shows, and if a dog gains enough points by a certain age it is awarded the title of Junior Warrant.

Hope this helps.

Mmm, milk with the water - a useful tip and one I didn't know.  Thanks for that

Lots of dogs seem reluctant to drink at shows and a little milk seems to work wonders, does with some of mine anyway. Not sure why dogs who love showing will not drink perhaps it is just too exciting but they will drink pints when back in the car so you know they are thirsty, and, particularly if you are feeding tit bits, a dog needs to drink.

Just a thought.
I always take water for my dog to drink at Ring craft. I offer it to her after her turn and she is quite happy to drink it. But I noticed that no one else offers there pups water. So maybe the other dogs learn from a puppy that you don't drink when showing, as they are never offered it when in practice.  Could this be the reason?
My dog will drink anywhere now

NO, couple of mine would not drink at ringcraft either.

Mine never drank water offered at training classes but would hold out until we had walked home and you would think he'd never had a drink in his life!  I had to let him have a few sips then take it up otherwise he would have guzzled the whole lot.

My youngster wouldn't drink anywhere but 'home' for ages, where on return he would fall into his bowl!  I was very worried when we started doing the champ shows as it was such a long day and he wouldn't touch a drop.  We tried adding milk or ice cubes but no joy.  He had his first public drink at Bath in May when he was nearly 11 months old!!  He will drink when we are out now but only 'clean' water - he won't drink from the same bowl as other dogs.  However, he will drink dirty puddles on a walk.  Dogs are odd aren't they :)
