could you tell me how long you have had him and has this just started or has he been doing this all the time, i had a pup that did this and what i did was when i came home i would ignore him then run outside so if he wee,d he would do it outside and not all over my carpet, try that and try not to make such a fuss of him and see if that stops. as for when your husband leans over him, thats a new one to me, debbie

We have had him 5 months he has been doing it for about 3 months we have tried ignoring him and it does work but when my daughter and her boyfriend come home he wees on them even though we are with him at the time. thanks debbie.

My Tiva was a piddler. We ignored her and just let her come to us. When people came over we told them to ignore her and let her come to you. She would get so excited and would piddle all over. It took about a month and she has stopped. We had her for about 3 months and thought it was a urine/kidney problem and realized it was excitement. But the ignoring worked,She is now almost 5 years old. good luck.

Hi Lainey,
It's probably a mixture of excitement sometimes and at other times, more likely acknowledging his submission to whoever it is. When you have visitors, don't let them bend down to pet him. Continue the "ignore" scheme until he comes up to them.

Sometimes dogs don't have to be hit or abused to be this 'timid' with their bladders  It can be an individual dog or a 'stage' that he's going through. If you've ruled out a urinary infection, then just treat it as you have been.
good luck,
toodles
