Right, my phone is broken!! I need a new one for christmas, but want a fairly decent one, i currently have the Sony E - W880i
I have looked at the Sony E - W910i phone, but my sister said all Sony Errison phones break?

I want a phone that has fantastic memory and great for listening to music, as the Sony E walkmen phones seem to do this well...

My sister had the one down from the W910i and that broke.... so not sure if its bad making on SE part??

Any one got any tips... price range around 100 at the most, not much more than that please
Pink if possible, but doesnt really matter that much!! LOL

I personally would not go past Nokia.   I use my phone continually for work etc and they stand up to to the test including regularly being dropped. The interface is always similar and easy to use also.  Look on the phone review sites.

I used to have a nokia before i switched to SE and i found it a good phone, however it didnt match up to the moving and advancing market. So i switched to SE. I took a look last night on Nokia phones, however couldnt really see any on Pay as you Go, - 02 that were less than £100 and had a decent music player and memory etc...

What about this ONE

Yip definately , you can get the 6300  which has a good review for less that £100 I think about £70 ish  and if you go into the O2 shop you get a discount for trading any old one in.   My daughter and my freind both have the O2 pay as you go with the free unlimited text deals.

on their site but I am sure you can get it cheaper that £89

Heres a list of all the O2 Nokias

Thank you to both of you!!! :)

I am going to research both of those models, but i especially like that Nokia 5310 pink!!! Thats FIT!! LOL

Going to go and compare on a website now and see what additions or subtractions both these phones have in comparison to mine!!

THANKS!! :-D

Does anyone know a website where you can compare different models of phones with the specs and things like that??

my last phone (up till yesterday yay!) was a sony (different than your sis's, it was a camera one rather than a walkman type) and i was told this by friends to. i loved it to start with but sure enough after about 8 months the software started going wonky and its been getting worse ever since :(

but then i got a call on tuesday about my contract seeing if i wanted an upgrade- YES!! yells i :) shiny new nokia arrived yesterday- so far i love it!! its a nokia 6500- really good camera, sitting listen to music on it right now lol and so far terribly impressed. its a bit chunkier than many but i picked it for that as i don't like a flimsy feeling phone.

i got it free with my 3 contract so not sure about price.

Hi yorkies.  I'm a Nokia fan myself but I bought my daughter the Sony Ericsson W910i and she is so pleased with it.  It has some really good features.  She had hers from Orange and its pink with flowers on the back and v. pretty and girlie.  She is on contract and we had a really good deal.  Have to tell you though, my manager in work has exactly the same model but has had hers for a few months and has had probs with it, error msgs, invalid sim etc.  Maybe there are a few rogue ones playing up but touch wood my daughter's seems to be fine.

hth :-)

Thanks everyone :)

Not sure what to do now, its hard because i have found a few i like, but then things such as battery life change my mind, i am leaning more towards nokias now but going to have to browse i think on an actual shop, as the website i am looking at doesnt show how much you pay, so i keep finding nice phones and they are like 200+ haha!
- By suejaw Date 06.11.08 13:22 UTC
I have always been a fan of Nokia's but my find recently when going to upgrade was that the pixels in the camera were shocking and also the phones were very bulky as well.

I decided to plump for a SE for the first time and i am very impressed with it.

this is the one i have..

Thats why years ago i swapped from a nokia to a SE because they just didnt seem to be leading the market and keeping up with what people wanted (nokia that is)

ARGH its so confusing, i just want a phone haha, so difficult isnt it when choosing

would you not consider a contract? if you don't mind me asking how much do you use on your phone/spend on credit each month? just there are some really good contracts out there with lovely phones for free.

Heh you can say that again....I've been casually looking for a new phone for the last three years, every time I get overwhelmed and then end up not being able to justify the money in case I don't like it :-P

It really is about time I did though - my current phone was my first ever mobile (I've only ever had 1 phone in my life) and is now almost 7 1/2 years old! Survived being dropped on concrete multiple times and still almost as good as new....the old bricks had a lot to be said for durability ;)

The main problem I have (which is why my search always ends with me getting overwhelmed!) is that the key thing (no pun intended....) for me is I have big problems with the buttons so they need to be either very easy to press or touch screen.

I spend very little a month, less than a tenner, sometimes i top up a tenner and i get with that 10 - 300 free texts to any network, however, i have these deals where i also get 20 mins to landlines free, a fiver out of the 10quid goes towards 1000 free texts/calls to any o2 mobile, which in my case is good cos all my friends are mainly on o2 and the ones that arent i either top up or just spend what credit i have... i also get 1 mb of internet use when i top up.. so it works out a lot less than a contract as i very rarly spend a tenner a month, sometimes a tenner here and there, but mostly a fiver lol :)

I really like that nokia 5310 in pink, but i found an offer for that phone in the o2 shop for 79.99 i think it was, but in red, and it comes with speakers and a memory card... however i dont want that colour and i dnot think they do it in pink :( so going to have to buy those seperate and buy a pink one :( - its the battery life i am worried about with this phone, does anyone have one?

What about one of the LG phones or the samsung ones, a lot of those are touch screen, i find these very hard to use tho, always press a button by mistake haha

> What about one of the LG phones or the samsung ones, a lot of those are touch screen, i find these very hard to use tho, always press a button by mistake haha

Half of them seemed to have a keypad as well? Which defeated the purpose really, unless the keypad is optional use? Plus most of them had rather hefty price tags!

I was looking at an LG one which seemed brilliant (almost bought it) until I read a few reviews and found out the screen scratched easily and, more importantly, the battery life was almost non-existant!

It's such a pain because I so rarely go into town (often go months) and without actually going into shops and pressing buttons on the display phones it's impossible to tell what they're like. Then of course half of them have dummy phones so that doesn't work anyway, or else they don't have the models you want to see! The one thing that you can't find out by browsing online :(
- By yorkies4eva [gb] Date 06.11.08 13:55 UTC
Yes i agree with you there, i normaly have a browse online then try and decide to the best i can, but always go in the shop wtih an open mind and ready to change my mind lol!!

I have said now, i think i am going to browse for this nokia but ask about the battery life, as it doesnt seem that good and i need a phone with good battery life and if not then ill look for some other phones!

Yes most phones have a keypad, i dont think i can think of any that dont to be honest... some have a touch screen but thats just for the select button and the play button if its a music phone or something along those lines.. the actual keys to text and ring are usually button...
- By Astarte Date 06.11.08 13:56 UTC
ah then there is no point in you getting a contract. how do you possibly use it so little??? i suppose though that i don't have a land line lol.

i've heard that LG's are really awful but never had one myself.

http://shop.o2.co.uk/mobile_phone/specification/Samsung/G600

Just found this link and its for a samsung one, the buttons at the top are fairly big, but the actual buttons to text and ring might be too small?
- By yorkies4eva [gb] Date 06.11.08 14:03 UTC
i use it loads, but thank fully my friends are all on o2, except 1!! so those 1000 mins all go towards them, which is a fiver a month and that includes phoning, which is good cos my bf is on o2! so i am quite lucky i guess really in that case

x
- By yorkies4eva [gb] Date 06.11.08 14:03 UTC
oh and i have those minutes which are free as they are a bolt on for landlines, which comes in handy for ringing my home, as my dad isnt on o2 either haha
- By satincollie (Moderator) Date 06.11.08 14:07 UTC
I have had numerous mobile phones over the years and have tried quite a few makes but have now gone back to Nokia as have had least problems with their phones and at the moment I have the Red 5310 :) battery life I have never found to be a big issue I usually charge it up about twice a week however I do not use it alot to play music although I do listern to the radio on it when I'm sitting on the bus going and coming from work 3  mornings a week.
- By yorkies4eva [gb] Date 06.11.08 14:20 UTC
Ohhh thank you for that satincollie!
I might actually compare the battery life to my old nokia, i never found that a problem to be honest, but since getting a phone wtih really strong battery life, it might come as a shock to drop back down.. if that makes sense!!

Are the speakers really loud and are the ringtones adequate? :)
- By satincollie (Moderator) Date 06.11.08 14:39 UTC
Ringtones, well at the moment I have the  track The Man That Can't be Moved by The Script as my ringtone. The preinstalled ones give quite a wide selection of the standard sort of ringtones. The speakers I'm not sure about as I listern through headphones on the bus LOL not sure everyone else would always appreciate listerning to my radio at that time of the morning.
- By yorkies4eva [gb] Date 06.11.08 14:42 UTC
HAHA LOL!! No i doubt that very much!!!
Well the headphones must be very good to play that type of music and not be crackly... Just compared it to my old nokia and its exactly the same battery power, just 20 mins more time on talk time

I would have some speakers you see, so when i am in the bath, i listen to my phone haha, but i think i might give this phone a whirl... if its no good, ill take it back and get a new one... going to go to the shop and try this as my top choice though see what happens!! Thanks  :)
