I think that it should be a complete unknown, it would be nice to have a really fresh new face whom we all have to get to know. I've enjoyed David Tennant due to his humour, he was great for the kids and the adults alike, (I like the cheeky twinkle eyed characters) problem with a really dark character is he may not appeal as much to the younger generation. I don't think I would like a female doctor, as much as I loved the Rose character, it would be a bit odd that he regenerated into a female.  I really want a good looking doc though, (call me selfish :-D ) I've quite enjoyed the chemistry between this doc and his assistants, you can't imagine assistants going all gooey eyed at Tom Baker or Pertwee types.  I really want him to be charismatic, but I want him to be new and then hopefully he will stay in the role, very disappointed that David T is leaving, absolutely loved him as the doc. :-(

My hubby says it should be Louis Walsh. :-D  With Sharon Osbourne as his loyal assistant.  Actually wouldn't mind Simon Cowell. Ummmmmm....... :-D

William Hill's odds ( not that i understand betting odds really lol)

2/1 Robert Carlyle
4/1 Jason Statham
9/2 Allan Davies
6/1 James Nesbitt
7/1 John Simm
10/1 Julian Walsh
12/1 Daniel Radcliffe
14/1 Nigel Harman
25/1 Catherine Tate
33/1 Billie Piper

dunno what planet william hill are on....it aint gallafrey!

John simm and Billie Piper and Cath Tate are already characters on Dr Who
and this is why out of the zone for Robert Carlyle and espesh Jason Statham whom trying his best to carve out a Hollywood action hero career
the rest arent bad guesses though

Would you not have said it was way out of the zone for Christopher Eccleston?  If there is one thing that is consistant about Robert Carlisle it is that there is no consistancy to the roles he undertakes :-).

I think he may have done.  He was a shaven headed psychopath who stabbed Christopher Eccleston who died whilst reporting it on his walkie talkie, sob, sob, sob :-(.
Not that I am saying Liverpool fans are shaven headed psychopaths :-D
Whoops, I hope you all missed my, no where near as bad as Lea's, typo there :-D

I hope it's not Catherine Tate - i keep expecting her to morph into Sweary Nan , I just can't take her seriously !

Now Robert Carlyle - he's more like it !  Do you think he could do a Full Monty in the Tardis !

Oh, yes I had forgotten about The Full Monty.  How could I forget The Full Monty? :-D  Another brilliant, and very different, role.
I don't want a woman.   I have never got used to lady vicars!
