Hi, I hope i'm posting on in the right place.

Unfortunately our beloved husky, Toka, recently passed away and we are, as you can imagine, devastated.  We are looking to try and find a husky pup to help fill the hole that has been left in our famiy, but as we are due to have a 2 week holiday in April we are looking for a breeder who would have a litter planned to be born in early march, for homing in early may.  I would be grateful for any advice on where i can get information on breeders who might be planning any litters then, or if not, possible places i could contact to obtain that sort of information.  We live in Northumberland so would prefer to look in the North east, but would go further afield to find a good breeder.

Hi and welcome
you can also look at the lists of breeders on this site, just click on it and it will give you a list of breeders choose your breed and the info will come up, you may also want to leave your details on the searching board.

Hi, thanks for the advice, i've looked on the breeders list and have emailed some breeders in my area.  I haven't found the searching board yet, but i'm on my way to have a look,  thanks again :)

Very sorry to hear of the loss of your beloved dog.
I think you may have to loosen up your times scales to something a little less specific if you want to put the priority on finding a reputable breeder that will provide you with a happy and healthy puppy.  The KC give lots of very useful help regarding finding a reputable breeder on their website.

thanks for the advice, I don't mind loosening up on the timescales, as you say a reputable breeder and a healthy pup is top prioritiy.

It's worth calling the breed club too. You can find out when and where there will be shows or rallies/races so you can see dogs from a variety of breeders and get to know some of them. They will have puppy lists for breeders that are members of the breed club as well. You can find phone numbers and links to their websites on the KC page for huskies. (bottom of the page)

Hi Tinkerbell,

My condolences for the loss of Toka. (There's no bigger hole than a Husky hole, in your heart..{hug} x)

I would be verrrrrrry wary of selecting Breeders purely on their proximity to where you live, there are Many 'breeders' out there at the moment producing pet dog matings with little knowledge of lines, health, conformation with some very disasterous results and some awful Husky 'types' doing nothing for the breed.

Do you which type of Siberian you are looking for? (we have 3..'Show' (American) 'Standard/working' and 'Sprint racing') That will narrow it down as to which lines/Breeders will suit you. Types of Siberian Husky

I would strongly recommend you consult our Breed club Siberian Husky Club GB - Puppy List (phone number for puppy list on link) or Scottish Siberian Husky Club to ensure an ethical breeder producing dogs for type, health and temprament.Fit for purpose or pet.

Alternatively, have you considered a rescue? We have 23 dogs currently in Breed club rescue needing knowledgable homes :)
Terri & Mick Brent (Show judges and breeders of Dreamcatcher champions) run the Siberian Husky Welfare Asosciation and would be more than happy to advise Im sure should you consider re~homing. (There is such a massive problem with Huskies being given up :()

Wish you the best of luck, If you have a type in mind feel free to pm me and I'll be happy to recommend lines.
Get yourselves to one of our rallies (15th Nov if your up North at St.Andrews) and you'll get to see lots of dogs....and the best dogs in the breed :) (All show Husky's are workers too)
