My english bull terrier puppy bitch (6 months) has developed a histiocytoma on her cheek,  I know this because my other bull terrier developed one on his ear which we had removed because he kept banging it about and making it bleed.  I just wanted to know if anyone else has experienced these and know if they will go away on their own.  Its not bothering her, and she doesnt try and scratch it.  I read on the internet that they do go away but just wanted to know if anyone has had one on their dog which did go away.  i dont want to cause my puppy unnecessaary stress but having it removed if it doesnt bother her.

At 6 mths my Rottie bitch got one on her back leg, I treated it homeopathically and it went away within 3 - 4 weeks.  At 7 1/2 months she had her first season so put it down to her hormones.

Henry had one on his inside front leg at about a year old, we got the vet to take it off just to be safe and have never had any trouble since.

Are you sure it's a histiocytoma?  My girl had a lump removed 2 weeks last monday, the vet said it was a histiocytoma but also that mast cell tumours look similar.  In fact when it was analysed it was neither of those things but another type of benign cancer (with a very very long name which I can't remember!).  I'd be inclined to get it taken off, just to be on the safe side.

My boy had one last year on his chest, it got really big but the vet said to leave it a while, gave antibiotics and if it hadn't started to get smaller in a fortnight they would remove it if I wanted them to, but he did say they usually go on their own, which it did.  Earlier this year my girl had one on her muzzle, I had read that fuciderm could help, but was unsure, but thought what the heck and gave it a try, it had gone in about two weeks but got smaller wihin a few days.  I have also heard that Citricidal can work too.

You can apply Calendula cream to stop itching and soreness and give Thuja 6X - 2 tablets 3 times per day until the lump has disappeared.  It can take up to a couple months for it to reduce in size.

Our male had a histiocytoma on his top lip when he was about 9 months old.  Our vet said it would probably go away on its own in 3 -4 weeks so we left it and it duly went away.  I thought he looked a bit of a mess in the ring but it didn't seem to do him any harm!  Good luck.
