I'm almost afraid to write this, but only 7 more days to D-Day and we haven't yet heard a single...

This is very scarey!  How am I supposed to get pup used to the sound of them before it begins to sound like WW3?

Probably a bit too late now, but you can get a cd, think it's called "Sounds scary", that you start playing quietly, then build the volume up 'til pup is used to it as loud as you'll get on the "dreaded night (s)".

Oh no it is Divali!  The lad next door very nicely came round to tell me that they were going to have fireworks this evening.  His Dad said don't worry no big bangs.  Well Meg heard something going on and yes there was an average bang.  She shot through the house and then came and trembled at our side.  I thought her heart was going to beat out of her chest.  She quivered and panted for half an hour after they had finished at least.  She is now glued to my side.   She was extremely upset that my husband left the house to go to the football.  Oh I am so not looking forward to the next couple of weeks.  We were supposed to be going to the building exhibition tomorrow but I can't take the risk that traffic will prevent us getting back in time for darkness.  I tried walking her across the fields where we walk every morning about 4ish tonight.  She heard something several weeks ago there about the same light level (not time) and was anxious.  There was no way I was going to walk her that way this evening.  Morning is fine!  Didn't know she could tell the time.   Oh please ban the sale of fireworks.  Oh no there they go again.  Doggie torture.

It started here tonight! I counted 10 bangs coming from the house at the bottom of our garden. It is puppy boys ( 1 year old tomorrow :-D ) first 'time' so watched how he would react - but thankfully he was fine. Told everyone to act normally, ignore the bangs, just chat and do things as usual. Louis cocked his head for a listen, then carried on playing. Hope he will be the same when the full onslaught begins! Won't let him go in the garden alone though, just in case!

Near me, there were fireworks from 8pm until 1am for some festival- they literally did not stop for 5hrs. Sounds like I am exaggerating- sadly I am not. Must have cost an absolute fortune, however now all the dogs in the neighbourhood think it's completely normal for night time to sound like WW3. Grrr.

We've been lucky that non of our dogs have ever been scared of fireworks, they seem to enjoy them for some reason. Odd i know.

I wasn't sure how my Bernese would react to them so i got the sounds CD and played it for a long time while he was still small during the day and ignored any reaction from them, he was calm the whole way through so i praised him.
Last year on bonfire night, he did look around slightly worried and then realised that neither myself nor the other dogs were bothered by them and settled down.

I would recommend getting the CD and playing it during the day and ignore any distress. You start it off playing at a very low level and once she has got used to that you increase the volume. Most vets sell them as well. Quickest way of getting one right now.
