I feed my dogs raw heart quite often, they love it and I have never frozen it and defrosted i. Can I ask why you think you might have to do that. If I bought loads of it I might freeze some to use later. Liz
I have read somewhere that some people believe you should freeze raw meat first something to do with killing bacteria. Not sure that will do the trick anyway. I feed both my dogs raw (GSD and POM/Chi ) and if I get it fresh it is fed to them fresh. The only time it is frozen is when I buy already frozen meat. I agree if you have loads freeze to keep it otherwise feed away !
i freeze any beef etc before feeding to the dog as it can carry a nasty that can cause a neurological disorder that can lead to death. there is a thread on the forum somewhere if you search for it. so yes, definately deep freeze the heart first.
I freeze all my dogs meat before feeding because of a slight risk of the parasite(and also because of the quantity ) but didn't I read somewhere that a domestic freezers temprature isn't low enough to kill the bacteria?
