What is the ratio of puppies of two long haired German Shepherds being born long haired or short haired?

Could be wrong, but would have thought that would depend on the background of both dogs. Inherited carataristics are not taken just from the sire & dam but also the entire background of both animals. This is why we tell people that they would do best to go back to their dogs breeder to ask about a suitable mate, as one would hope that the breeder would have already done the study needed to help find a suitable stud. It is important to know that not only do the two dogs have the desired things in their background but also that they are not carring the same problems. Ja:)kie

Since the long hair is recessive, the puppies will be 100% long hair.

Hi Bonnie, yes of course you are right, I'm too worried that people breed for just one thing and ignore others like hips. Ja:)kie
