Hello all :)

After some wonderful advice regarding my puppy I am wondering if anyone can please help

My old boy he is 10 nearly 11 he hasn't been ill once in his whole life which I am really grateful for
Last night he had diarrhea just once, he seemed ok today really lively on his walk and rested when we got back
about half an hour ago he was sick everywhere and it was last nights dinner intact :|

I am really worried about him, he is my baby, he is asleep by my feet right now but he looks like he is guarding his stomach

I will contact my vet in the morning if he is still off colour, but am wondering if anyone has any advice they can give me tonight x

Thank you in advance x M

Hi
I dont really have any advice, but just wanted to say i hope your boy gets better soon, and we send him lots of loving hugs
xx

For tonight, I would just give him a big hug and try and get a good nights sleep.

Fingers crossed he has just eaten something that disagrees with him. Take him to the vets tomorrow and see what they have to say, but I would bet ten to one that after a day of fasting and a week of really boring food he will be back to normal and just begging you to play chase in the garden. :-)

He's your baby and you're bound to worry, but from what you have said it really doesn't sound like you have any need to be scared.

Let us know how it goes tomorrow at the vets.

Just think how often humans can get tummy bugs or et something that disagrees with them, i wouldn't panic too much, i'm sure he'll be ok.

I'm sure that it is just a bad tummy.  Hopefully it is not any other illness that can cause a dog to bring it's food up undigested.

Morning all

Just found out that my daughter has given both the dogs a bag of shattered bones which I was meaning to take back to the pet store on my next trip (I don't know what she was thinking, I told her they were dangerous), I think my boy has a blockage as he is so lethargic and has even thrown up the water he drank, my vet opens at 9 and I am going to be waiting on the doorstep for them to open.

:(

Fingers crosses its nothing too serious, poor thing.

How is he this morning?

I'm sure he is fine, check his gums if they are pale it could indicate that hes feeling under the weather..
hope he is ok

We have just got back from the vets and after a thorough examination and an x-ray there doesn't appear to be any blockage although there was a lot of blood in his bowels which the vet says indicates a serious infection, he has antibiotics and is still coming round from the anestetic so is really sleepy, he is asleep on his bed right by my feet at the moment.

It made me realise even more today just how much a part of the family a dog can be, when my children fearing that Drym might need an operation told me that they would prefer the money that would be spent on them for christmas presents be spent on their best friend Drym if he needed an operation.

Each of them told me how much he meant to them and the amazing stories they each had with him :) the ones that made them laugh like the time he gave my knickers to the lad next door to the time he warned us by howling when the litter of puppies we were looking after for a friend took sick with parvo virus.  How he always rests his head on the edge of the bed or sofa and falls asleep standing up, how he loves his ears being gently pulled over and over, how he lifts my daughters hand up and slides himself under it when he wants to be fussed :)

A dog isn't just for life it mostly is your life x

You have no idea how much your support means to me x thank you for your messages x

Thank you to everyone who posted me a message it really is one of the most comforting feelings knowing someone is out there

:)

Drym is perking up a little more tonight, he has eaten 4 handfulls of fresh chicken and boiled rice which I have spread out throughout the day, I was chopping up some left over lamb for the pup and he looked really interested which is another good sign :)

and you are so right dachmad it is so worrying when they get sick, it broke my heart yesterday leaving him at the vet, I gave the vet my coat to put in the crate and he looked at me like I was a little insane, but I knew my boy would feel more settled being able to sleep on my coat, I have trained him since he was a pup that my coat was bed so no matter where we went I could always lay down my coat and say bed and he would curl up and sleep all day :) (I wish my kids would listen to me like that lol)

So glad he's doing well and on the road to recovery. I do know how hard it is when a dog falls ill, its heartbreaking.

When leaving a dog at the vets when its ill, that is a tough one i must admit.

Fingers crossed there is nothing more to it and big hugs all round.

Love this site, everyone rallies round and its very comforting in a time of need.
