Hi I am the proud new owner of a lovely beagle puppy of just over 8 wks old.
He is very energetic and loves to play. Hi appetite is normal and is drinking water as normal. The trouble is he seems to be like he is choking quite a lot. It is like when a human is trying to clear there throat. I dont know if its because he gets put on his lead when he gets taken out in the garden and he is pulling away from me trying to explore. he doesnt choke all the time but its just a bit concerning.
Is anybody out there able to shed any light on this. Thanks, David.

Really it is impossible to diagnose anything over the internet a vets examination is always necessary but it could be kennel cough so I would get him seen straight away.

Agree sounds like Kennel cough, take to the vets but not into the waiting room, leave in the car or at least out side, tell the receptionist that you think it may be kennel cough and the vet will come out to you. If you take the pup into the waiting room you could spread it to sick animals who could not deal with it. Ja:)kie

I don't know where you are but Kennel Cough is rife in several parts of the country that I know of.

I am in scotland. I took him to the vets tonight he said his tempature heart lungs were all fine. He said it could have been with the dog pulling on his lead because he is very head strong. But he said he didnt want to rule out kennel cough so put him on antibiotics.
Thanks to everybody for their help and advice.
