Don't know if anyone is aware, but James Wellbeloved will now not provide puppy packs to you unless you purchase 30kg of food from them direct within a six months period. So, you can buy as much food as you want, feed all your dogs on it, provide them with all your receipts and yet unless you have purchased 2 sacks from them they will not provide puppy packs. New policy.

If you pick up a bag at the show though and give them your account it counts towards the two bags.   Royal Canin the same now. ( same company I know)

Maybe so but I have a card for a pet food warehouse which is probably about £5 a sack cheaper. I have fed this product for 14 years but they are no longer interested in the good customer. If you think about it all you have to do when you have a litter due is feed whatever product you like but order two sacks within the 6 month period and you qualify for their puppy packs. Good PR, I don't think so.

I agree with your completely. Didn't realise you could find it cheaper than the breeders price elsewhere.      Maybe they would make an exception??  ( maybe a fat chance:-) )

It is always the decent buyers who lose out for some reason..

How much is the JW from the manufacturers?  I've just tried mine on it for a change - they're enjoying the fish and rice and looking good, they're having the lamb and rice next.  I bought it from Mole Valley - it was on special offer at just over £30 a sack but has gone up now.  Feel free to pm me if you'd rather :)

I really don't know but if you call them and ask for the breeders price they will give you them over the phone.
- By ridgielover Date 21.10.08 14:33 UTC
Thanks for that - I looked on their website but no mention of a breeders' club
- By Blue Date 21.10.08 14:37 UTC
I think if you call the Royal canin number they give you the options for RC or JWB. That is how it used to be anyway.

I don't really mind. I just order 2 sacks from them to qualify, and buy the rest at the wholesalers as usual. What extra I pay is made up for in the puppy packs the way I see it -I have ten pups, nine to go so received 9 packs with 2 kg bags. The 2 kg bags are just under £4 plus VAT at the wholesalers so I reckon it's still worth it -even if I put together the puppy packs myself it would be more expensive as 9 would cost me £36 + VAT in food alone.

Oh I agree Marianne, but how ludicrous is it when I bought 13 sacks to other day (some for other people) and they won't accept that I could qualify for their puppy packs. By the way, haven't any puppies at present but rang them as I have just got a puppy by my young boy and the breeder couldn't get the puppy packs even though he uses JW and purchases from the same warehouse as me.

I can see that would be annoying!

I have just used the 'Burns' breeder scheme and to say I was impressed is an understatement. They send out a £5 vouchewr per pup, 2kg of food, a comprehensive puppy guide, natrual feeding and holistic treatment guide plus a news letter for each pup. When the new owner uses the voucher, they send you a voucher for the equivilent bag of food free for what they have bought, eg if they purchased a 7.5kg or 15kg you get a voucher for a 7.5kg and 15kg bag of burns of your choice, it is excellent.

Can anyone list what is in the James Wellbeloved puppy packs please? (not that it's really currently relevant to me, but may be in the future)

Yup I had a phone call from them saying if I didnt purchase my food directly from them by the end of September that I wouldnt be eligible for their puppy packs.

I told them to forget it!

I buy my food at between £23 (if its on offer at the wholesalers) and £27 (normal wholesale price) a 15kg sack. £3 odd for the 2kg bags I use in the puppy packs. Which is much much cheaper than their 'breeder scheme' prices. TBH the breeder prices arnt alot cheaper than the pet stores, so I never bought direct from them anyways. Just sent in my receipts.

Bit cheeky if you ask me. They obviously dont give two hoots about their loyal customer base...

Well, I made an enquiry and the letter which came said you could either buy the food from KWB direct, or somewhere else and provide reciepts. So have they given out the wrong information to me, or to you?

It is cheaper frome to buy JWB direct fromt hem, as we have been paying £44.50 a sack at PAH. PUgnut, where do you get it for £23 or £27? What type of wholesalers? A pet one?

Thanks!

I also have a letter saying from them or provide receipts. My friend sent off the receipts and no packs were forthcoming, so I queried it and they said that it is a new policy, purchase minimum 30 kgs or no puppy packs. I have faxed them my receipt with 13 x 15kg sacks purchased on one day and their letter stating that you can provide receipts. Told them that if they cannot accept that then I cannot purchase their food. Funny, still no reply!!!

I get my food from Batleys wholesalers.

So now they are saying so long as you have receipts theyre still going to do the puppy packs? I asked when they rang and she said they wouldnt. It got me mighty peeved I can tell you!

I dont get it, although obviously they are making more by making breeders go direct to them. But when it still works out cheaper to go wholesale, you may as well stick two fingers up at them and stick with the wholesalers!

Interesting Alison looks like a few are following similar ideas.  Arden grange are now not supplying puppy food in the puppy pack but will supply you with vouchers ( quite good amounts)  to give to puppy buyers and product information.
- By AlisonGold [gb] Date 28.10.08 13:13 UTC
At least they seem to want to keep their customers don't they. I couldn't believe the attitude of JW. Still haven't received a letter re my complaint that I faxed with proof of 13 sacks of food being bought in one day. Obviously I am small fish to them! Never mind I can always swim in a bigger pond.
- By Blue Date 28.10.08 13:18 UTC
Totally agree agree Alison.   Thing is Dog food is not cheap and they make a great profit out of it.   Wish I could really come up with a good one and get my brand known.

( I'd give you puppy packs honestly ;-) )
- By kayc [gb] Date 28.10.08 13:20 UTC
This has been JWB's policy for over a year now.. I tried getting my puppy packs last September to be told unless I bought direct.. they wouldnt supply them..

Burns on the other hand.. have been brilliant.. I have just phoned them registering my present litter with them.. told them when litter was due to leave for new homes.. and will have my packs in time for them to go..

Right, then I am coming to you next time I have a litter, he,he.

Think we all change to Burns!!
