Sorry, a few questions here! - Can anyone tell me if they give their bitch glucose to drink in their water following whelping a litter.  Also do I need to adminster calcium and if so how much of this should my bitch be given and for how long?  I also want to give arnica to ease any bruising, would you advise this and again how much?  Thanks so much in anticipation

Annie, my girl has had honey in the immediate few days after having her pups to boost her energy (well hopefully).  She has also had arnica pills from Dorwest Herbs and the dosage given was listed in their catalogue.  I hope it helped her but it is difficult to know but obviously you want to do all you can to help your new mum.  If you got your arnica from same company then you could check with them but i wouldn't like to advice you how much on the dosage.

Good luck with your mum & litter.

I give arnica too from Dorwest and Colocal D. The instructions are on the packaging as it depends on the weight of your bitch. I start it straight away after whelping.

I give Colo Cal D daily to Mum until the puppies stop feeding from her. I have had Hypocalcemia in the past and have given calcium ever since

Depends on the size of your dog

toy breeds or small breeds can get eclampsia.. so they should be supplimented with calcuim tablets
I gave my bitch glucose powder after she whelped.. just to give her some energy, I also gave her some puppy milk in her water as she didnt have a huge appetite for the first few days :)
