My neighbours have just painted the fence betwen us, and the colour has dripped through the knotts in the wood and run down the fence over the gravel board and pooled all over my grass and patio.

I wouldn't mind to much if it was quite subtle but it's bright blue. I have tried everything to clean it up but it wont come off.
Anyone got any ideas on how to remove it?

nytromores? (sp?) i remeber we used this to peel decades worth of gloss off of the wood in our house, its a strong acid type thing and basically melts the paint.

Go round and explain to them the problem you have and ask them to find a way to clean it up? :-)

Failing that - white spirit might work - it's what I use for getting gloss paint off brushes after painting - or you could try some sort of paint remover from a hardware shop - though I don't know if that would then affect the fence etc?

'Nitromors' as suggested by Astarte, will take the paint off the fence and possibly the patio, but it will kill your grass so try not to get it on there!

Good Grief what sort of paint have they used if it wont come off? The usual standard garden fence paint is like emulsion and will usually come off.
Have you tried blasting it off with a Karcher power washer?  Id be pretty annoyed about it too, maybe mention to your neighbours what has happened see if theyll come and sort it!

Also if you do try Nytramors keep your pets well away !

I,d get round there and nicely ask them what they are using for drips there side of the fence and then you never know they just might come round and offer to clean up after themselves.
They might not have realised the mess is there on your side so if you give them the chance they may come good.
I do still have a little faith in human nature and try to find the best in people despite my own neighbour almost starting world war three.

Garden fence paint is usually oil based because its more weatherproof - so it will have to be white spirit that will take it off.  Nitromors is a bit severe as it is a proper paint stripper.  The problem is that you have dogs.  First thing is to let the neighbours know that you have animals so can they please come round and sort out the paint pooling in the garden as it's not safe.

Is it proper paint or woodstain as there is a blue stain available?  (Ex DIY chain employee here)

I thought that they had only done a small section of the fence as the rest of the pannels looked O.K. at first glance. When I looked closer they must have sprayed it on as my conservatory is covered in the stuff. All the the dog bowls are spattered as is the kids wooden garden equipment. My dogs have free run of the area out side the conservatory and must have been out there when they sprayed. They know we have dogs and as they have two of their own I would have thought they would be a bit more considerate.

Hubby went and spoke to them and they just said that there wasn't much they could do now its done and they didn't think it would make such a mess. They did apparently put their dogs in a kennel for the day as they were worried it might be harmful.
Some people obviously manage to go though life without ever thinking how there actions may affect anyone else

Thankfully Hubby has managed to clean up the worst although we haven't managed to get it off the brick work and it has stained the fence pannnels. The dogs will been kept out of the area till I know its safe.
At least they wont need to paint it again for awhile :)

Oh dear, thats awful. when we first moved to our current home two years ago, we did our fencing. We bought a sprayer and oh dear it was disastrous...........hubby kind of did what your neighbours have done to you - he sprayed the roof and bonnet of our neighbours silver car brown. Luckily though, we realised almost immediatley and quickly washed there car and all was well, infact we all had a giggle aboout it. We never used the sprayer after that though - they are lethal!

Im so glad we are not the only ones who thought the fence sprayer was rubbish, my husband got more on himself ( sprayback)and the floor than on the fence......i so hate the advert now as they make it look so easy peasy, ours wouldnt come off the paving slabs either..
