Topic Dog Boards / Showing / NAF,TAF,IMP?
- By CALI2 [de] Date 08.10.08 10:04 UTC
Ok thought I would ask on here while waiting for a response from the KC. I am importing a bitch and the KC have received the documents, pedigree, payment ect. The question I have asked them is do I need to put TAF,NAF or IMP on the entry form. Is there anyone on here that has been in this situation?
Many thanks

I woudl imagine TAF and IMP woudl need to be on the entry, ut not NAF as the dog has a name already.

NAF would be required if you are putting your affix on I think?

As already said TAF and IMP would seem to be the ones.

Well still waiting on a reply, but just had another look on their website and it says that if they have received all the documents and payment I should put NAF!! but no mention about IMP. I'll just have to wait and see what they say. Thanks guys.

We were told that we should put RAF (registration applied for) in those circumstances.

The IMP bit (plus the country of origin, so IMP FRA, IMP HUN, whatever) actually becomes part of the dog's official registered name, so should be used.

Affixes aren't added to imports in the same way, it gets done as part of the dog's registration (assuming ownership the same), so don't think NAF would be relevant?

Ahh yes that would make more sense. I have actually asked them about this before and was told to contact the show secretary of the show I am entering to ask her what she wanted on the entry form, but she didn't know so has asked me to ask them again!! Honestly the KC are the ones that make the rules and regs so surely they should be the ones in the know!

Yes that is correct she has my affix added to her name and she is staying in my ownership so I don't know why the KC have NAF on their website.

Makes sense M - probably should have kept quiet :) too confusing for me!

So glad you asked this Jenny as I will have all this to do shortly and I too would have been completely at a loss, so thanks for that invaluable info.

I can't remember what we put on but I think we followed the advise on the KC web site that if I remember correctly says to use NAF.
I understood it as name has been applied for UK register so it kind of made sense so followed the advise there :)

Well still no reply so will have to give them a phone I think.
Noora can you remember if you put IMP followed by the country it was exported from on the entry?

No, I didn't put IMP in as nowhere told me to do so!
So far have no forms returned so I assume it has all gone in ok :)

Yeah that's why I thought I would ask as it doesn't mention anything about putting IMP. I will give them a call and see what they say.

Many thanks
