Claire, I caught a post of yours from July, and wanted to respond where you might see the post. I have an Akita, and they are prone to immune system problems as well. Please email me for more info, Christine suschi@ivillage.com

James (Jim) Rusk - Booton
He hasn't said but I saw him listed as judge when I looked at the classes - nosey me as usual too ;)
He has gone over Phoebs a few times for me so she gets used to men judges as the 2 people who go over the dogs are ladies (one is actually Phoes breeder)

It was certainly an American cocker who got Gr 2 - she is called Afterglow Puss in Boots, and is 15 months old. Mike and I bred her, and she is owned and handled by Beverly Morris. This was her very first CC (and I mean first, Beverly has never won either a CC or RCC before, and has been showing Yankees for over 10 years), she beat Arabella (who got RCC). Beverly told me show was so overcome the whole group thing seemed a bit like a dream - and the 2nd placing way beyond her wildest dreams.

well done vicki----the group rings a great place to start :D
It certainly is.... I thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience and so did Pepper she was so excited couldn't keep her still....and the cheering from around the ring was amazing....but we just weren't used to all that so she started spinning round to see what was going on.... when we were supposed to be standing for the final placing....the judge actually waited for me to re-stand her....

Fantastic Vicki and Pepper. Must feel as good, if not better, than winning the lottery :)
Dot
I think the feeling on Sunday was better than winning the Lottery....it's taken us a while to get this far.....and we haven't given up even though at times I felt like it....perseverance is the key....!!!!
Pepper is my first dog and the first dog I have ever shown....she has just turned four and this year we have achieved so much....
Thanks to you all for your best wishes....nice to be around people who genuinely are pleased for us...
Vicki & Pepper xx

Now full steam ahead to get her title next year!!!!
