Well................just back from dentist after final sorting out on my tooth.
You may recall I had a 2 hour session in the chair where a simple filling turned into a root canal job before the fitting of a crown/bridge. Dentist likened it to a canti-lever .
Any how today the fitting and final......£1360 aghhhh.........

So thank goodness for credit cards!

TY all, my mouth is now 9 1/2 crowns and many fillings. I just wish we had an nhs...
I fully expect to spend more over the years, but when I caught my mother giving my children sweeties to go up to bed with I realised my primary care had been lacking and when old enough to manage for myself it was probably too late for a healthy mouth.
Ah well at least we were loved.......

Yes, I had a mother like that. Even during the war, and the rationing afterwards, she proudly boasted that she always managed to buy 4 ozs of sweets a day - not to mention "Vimaltol" - a vitamin supplement that was like treacle. Most of my milk teeth were removed, and the fact that I still have a fair few left at age 65 is nothing short of miraculous. It made me absolutely obsessional about teeth with my own children, and I have to confess I was glad we lived in a different part of the country. I think actually that my mother, and many of her generation, found it almost impossible to express affection to us physically, and her way of doing it was to give food - and unfortunately very sweet and sticky food at that! To be fair, dentistry in those days was not nearly as good and precise as it is today, either. :-(

my mum was like this with us and was an absolute hitler about our teeth. worked out well though as untill recently i have had perfect teeth. unfortunately with being ill and being sick a lot (several times a day) my teeth have been really weakend and i have chipped the front one!

very sad :(

Well my mum was born in 1917! So I think there is a lot of truth in the rationing etc mentality.
We were given malt as a supplement which was a sticky treacly thing.
I too am fierce in my teeth watch and the children know and do look after their teeth now.

Now you have a bridge, I would join Denplan private dental care, it works out a lot cheaper it covers all your Dental work and regular dental polishes. check ups. you would never have a bill like that again.
I joined 20yrs ago after my granson as a baby knocked my front tooth with his head and cracked the root. I then, had a £400.00 bill then I joined Denplan. I think there is a Bupa one also. You can have 24hrs dental care 52 weeks a year.

I so agree with what you say and dont know why I haven't done it before.
We have no option here with health or dentists there is no provision so we pay our own. Though most people do take out medical insurance as have we, not so many including me, think of their teeth.
So now I will.
