im doing a bit of detective work and was wondering if anyone knew of anywhere online I could find out if someone is registered as living at a particular address ?

If its a local address, you can view the electoral role at the library.  An index shows the street, the house number and it the surnames and initials of the people registered to vote.

If its further afield, you need to pay for the information on the various websites.  (www.192.com etc)

The census won;t show current information.

I think we are going to have to register with 192.com then, thanks (was trying to save the £10 registration fee !!)

Your library will have all the BT telephone books covering the UK if that is any help.

I need to know if someone is on the electoral register for a particular address so it really needs to be the electoral register.  I thought the public could access it, must be wrong.

The local town hall will carry a copy of the electoral roll for that area - not sure if that helps at all.

I'm sure the public can access the electoral register - but as I remember there is a check box on the electoral forms you have to fill in where you can keep your address off the register accessible to the public - I may be wrong tho, it just seems to be lurking in a corner of my mind.
