Can anyone recommend a good mixer biscuit, my dogs have been itching for a while, they were always fed on fresh meat, ie tripe lamb or chicken and pedigree small bite mixer, but as they were itching i changed over to Laughing dog mixer with their meat, they are now scratching like crazy!
No theres definately 100% no flea problem, wish there was it would make life a lot easier! dont use carpet freshener, but am really at my wits end, any suggestions please?

have you tried using a complete food such as James Wellbeloved mixed in as this is hypoallergenic.
Have you also had them checked out at the vets just incase there is an underlying problem??

Have not had them checked at vets yet, wanted to see if i could find the problem on my own before we spent thousands of pounds on allergy testing, dont want to use a complete food with meat as it unbalances all the protein levels, which my vet warned me about years back.
Plus im not a lover of complete foods anyway so will try and stay as natural as i possibly can with meat and biscuit, thanks for replying anyway.

Have you turned on the central heating? (or turned it up a bit)
If so it could be that their skin is getting dry try some oil (sunflower/evening primrose)
or lower the heat etc.

The other thing is to check the ingredients of LD mixer and the pedigree chum small bite mixer.
You may be able to identify the ingredient/s that is causing the allergy.
See what the laughing dog mixer has that the PC one doesn't etc.
I'm sure you can get gluten free mixer biscuits, but they probably will be on the pricey side.

There Laughing dog mixer, which is reasonably priced, and usually contains no gluten, worth a look!!

Burns do a hyperallegenic mixer.  I've not used it on my dogs although I used to feed my dogs on Burns for around 4 yrs when I was having allergy problems with really good results.  I only changed to Arden Grange as they changed the oil content in Burns.  If you ring them I'm sure they will send you a free sample.

Good luck

Maybe it is mixer in general they are just grain.  Try the meat and veg only for a few weeks.

I know loads now have had problems with the LD mixer.

Only mixer I hear regularly recommended is the natures menu one but to me they are all much the same as the LD on comparison.

What about a grain free complete and use it as a mixer?

We use Fold Hill Terrier meal as a mixer and our dogs seem to do well on it, we have used it for the past five years.

me to, i use foldhill but the puppy one as it is smaller for my lazy cocker as he doesnt like chewing, and any mince or tin for a change and his skin has cleared up really well, when he was on royal canin it bought him out in all scabs across his back

Can you try leaving the mixer out and see how they go. I don't feed mixer to mine.

Have just changed the itchy ones onto natures nuggets as theres absoloutely nothing in them, but they feel awful like little pouches of fresh air, have completely cut out all mixer everything just the nuggets lets see how they go on that!

Why not try Autarki, we have a boxer who was on Royal Canin and tripe and he kept coming up in "hives", his skin was terrible so we changed him over to Autarky and within days there has been such a huge difference, it retails at about £20 through most suppliers but we get it at Costco for £10.00 per 15kilo bag and it is vat free.
