I quite fancy getting my ears pierced again, the bit at the front that joins onto the cheek, if you know waht I mean! Has anyone had this done?, does it hurt more than normal
piercing? I have several holes in the fleshy bit but fancy a diamond stud at the front of my ears.
Years ago I had the top part of my ears done, but they never healed properly and were very painful.
Any advice before I go ahead?

I have got 2 in my top left ear and I thought them less painful then my nose piercing lol
I dont have that part of the ear done myself but I have heard its painful for some and a bit awkward to begin with in terms of sleeping on it eyc but go for it anyway as a little pain never hurt anyone lol
Only advice would be make sure you go to a good recommended piercer as the reason many piercings dont heal is cause their done with dodgy instruments or unsterilsed needles or an inexperianced piercer has done it wrong so go somewhere whey they can show you their recent health check or proof of hygiene and ask for the most expieranced person who you feel happy with, it might seem petty but when its your body your talking about, how much hassle is it really?!? :)
>does it hurt more than normal
My daughter has this piercing and she said it did hurt more but then it's only for a little while isn't it?

Ive always found its the anticipation with a tattoo or piercing, once your in there and its done you think what was the big deal lol!!

Do you mean a
tragus piercing? (I haven't read the information on that page so am not endorsing anything it says...it was just the first one I found with a picture).
If so, I have it in my right ear (and anti-tragus in my left). It was a long time ago that I had it done but as I recall it didn't hurt particularly and healed fairly quickly. I just cleaned it 2-3 times a day with a cotton bud soaked in salt dissolved in warm water as recommended by my piercer.
Do not be tempted to have this done by anyone other than a proper piercer...many hairdressers and beauty salons offer piercing these days but I am dubious about their experience, professionalism and hygeine of the environment. The people I know who have had problematic piercings have had them done in places like this. Ask around for recommendations for a good piercer in your area.

Yes that's it, perhaps you can't wear a stud in it. I'll have to think about it I reckon!!

You can wear a stud in it (although it's not the average ear stud, it's a barbell and you can get them with all sort of jewels and designs on the end). Your piercer will keep you right as to what is appropriate sized jewellery for you :-)

Well I had it done, and it bl**dy hurt!! Seriously, only for about 20 seconds. I have a small bar with a light blue sparkly bit and already have had people admiring it.
I really like it and am glad I went for it. I might even have the top part of my ear done again, the healing is better when it is pierced with a hollow needle rather than a gun, which is what was used before. So I was told today.
Thanks for your advice xx

I wore an average ear stud in mine :)
I have one of my ears pierced 13 times, great 15 years ago but im regretting it now that particular look isnt in - ive got an ear like a sieve
Its called your tregus.
I had mine done and can honestly say it didnt hurt at all!!! And healed fantastically. No gunk or pain. I've just got a bar through mine but may get a small hoop to go through it.
Only slight problem i find is when im listening to my ipod i find the ear phones dont sit as snug in the ear i have my tregus pierced.
Yeh i have mine done, even though i had been refused at one shop coz mine is very small. but i had it frozen and its stings a tad but it looks pretty. Same with the ipod thing but not too bad if bass is pumping it vibrates abit lol. I have my tongue done to and other places but tongue hurt most argh!

ooo so thats what is called! learn somthing new everyday! lol! :-) i really want mine done, ive wanted it for a while,it will take me a few weeks to pluck up the courage to do it though!
ive had my tongue done since i was 15 then had to take it out for a operation at the start of this year,i thought i would get it done agian but i keep thinking of all the things that could go wrong so havnt had it done agian yet....not sure if i will agian???
I wanted my tongue pierced...until i watchd my friend have hers done. It is so gruesome and looks really difficult to pierce, obviously because it is going through muscle. Cant get rid of that image so cant see me getting my tongue done anytime soon.
I'd heard loads of horror storys about having your tregus pierced and put it off for ages, but i can honestly say i didnt feel a thing. Was a very good professional piercer though which obviously helps. He told me to take a deep breath in, then when i started slowly breathing out expecting the pain to come any second he said "right thats it done". I was a bit disappointed i didnt get any pain :-) Mine is very close to my face (if that makes sense) but i have no trouble with it at all.

Forgot what this part of the ear is called now! But my sister has it done and she said it wasnt that painful, and she loves the piercing and is quite happy she got it done as it isnt that popular compared to something like your belly button, so its a bit different!! Go for it!!
> Its called your tregus
Ooops, didnt read all the posts, you answered my question!! LOL :)

Hiya Fred's Mum...
My friend runs her own very sucessfull Piercing and body Modification Studio with her B/F they are 2 of the most experianced and respected piercers in their industry.
As far as toungue piercings go I would say to you make sure you go to a reputable piercer who uses a torch to check for blood vessels under the tounge as these have to missed when piercing. There are othe factors to consider too for example if the tongue web underneath is short and too far forward sometimes the tounge cannot be pierced no matter how much you may want it done for safety reasons...any reputable piercer will know all this and explain it too you.
Always m,ake sure the piercer changes their gloves often too as most gloves only have a resistance against infection for about 5 mins.
check that every instrument to be used comes out of a sealed packet opened in the piercing room by the piercer only, this ensures it is all sterile to use.
The level of pain you feel if its done correctly is down to the individual person...ie some feel it more than others depending on their tolerence for pain and wether thay have worked themselves into a state and convince themselves it will hurt.
A long enough tounge bar should be used to allow for swelling and you should use mouthwash after everything you eat, drink, smoke for 2 weeks after the peircing is done. After the initial 2 weeks a good piercer will change your tounge bar to smaller on to fit after the swelling has gone down. The amount of swelling again depends on the individual...some find their tounge swell quite a bit and they can only eat liquid foods for a few days ,others have been known to be eating roast dinners the next day so its impossible to predict how yours will react till its done.
p.s its also advisable to eat and drink something before you have this type of piercing done as if you get an adrenalin rush after you could faint and this helps stop that happening.
Good luck and dont be put off if you really want it done if you go to a good studio you should be absolutely fine...
If anyone wants to pm me about my friend feel free...hope this helps :)

Just a quick update, I had my 'tragus' done on Wednesday. It was painful when the needle went in but only for a few seconds. It was a bit 'twingy' for a few hours but not too bad. Today it's hardly bothered me at all and I even slept ok on it last night.
I'm really pleased with it and think it well worth the little bit of discomfort so far. I've had really nice comments about it, everyone thinks it looks very pretty.

Date 26.09.08 21:13 UTC

well im getting my tragus done tomorrow!!! :-O im really nervous about it! ive wanted it done for soooo long but not been able to go through with it,but have finaly decided to go and do it!:-)
do they freeze it clio1???? and do you have hoop in first?
By clio1
Date 27.09.08 07:51 UTC
Good Luck! They didn't freeze mine, and I have a small bar with balls on each end, one end is a sparkly gem. I think you can have a ring if you prefer.
Don'y worry, you'll be fine, it's all over really quickly and I have had no problems with mine. I had my hair cut and coloured yesterday and although they knocked it a bit it, wasn't at all sore. Remember to follow the aftercare instructions.
Go for it, Be brave, You'll love it... Let me know how it goes.

il let you know when i get home later....fingers crossed it doesnt hurt too much! :-D

Well done you !! What did you have, a bar or ring?
By pepsi1
Date 27.09.08 17:09 UTC

I had a bar, wasnt too keen on the rings they look really nice but dont think they would suit me.
What did you have in yours?
By clio1
Date 27.09.08 17:35 UTC
I had a bar with a light blue gemstone set in it. Later when it's completely healed, I will probably put a gold stud in, maybe a diamond one. I have gold earrings in my earlobes
and I prefer matching. The bar they used to do the piercing is silver/stainless steel I think.
I wonder how Kiger got on....
By kiger
Date 27.09.08 22:08 UTC

i got it done too!!! :-D im well pleased with it! got a little blue gem too! lol!:-D my bar is a plastic bar as they have found that the piercing heals alot quicker with the plastic bar.i also wear gold and want them to match soon as its healed, so will be keeping an eye out for some nice gold ones.i couldnt belive how quick it was! i was really shocked! it hurt but it was so quick you didnt really have much time to think about it! lol :-D i also asked about getting my tongue redone and he had a look at it,a stretching needle went nearly all the way through from the bottom but got stuck towards the top so he said he would have to re pierce that top part when i wanted it done but he wasnt happy with how id had it done the first time and it could of damaged my muscle in my tongue and i was really lucky it didnt!!! :-O so he will reposition it when i have it done.
thanks for all the advice im really glad i got it done :-)
By pepsi1
Date 28.09.08 08:33 UTC

I have a silver one in too, im the same going to change it when its healed, the one i have in slightly too big to allow for swelling but its hardly swelled. I managed to sleep on it last night too which i was shocked about, cant believe it doesnt hurt. :-)
By kiger
Date 28.09.08 10:47 UTC

i slept on mine too! :-D mine hasnt swelled either! lol! i couldnt belive that i had no pain killers at all yesterday i thought i would of been having them loads!
By pepsi1
Date 28.09.08 11:06 UTC

i did too, if i knew it was going to be like this i would of had it done ages ago :-)
Thanks for that philly. Im sorry but your long post was pointless to me :-) The piercer my friend went to is very good and has done several of mine, but as say, after watching my mate have her tongue pierced i would not get it done for all the tea in china!!!!!!
i have quite a few piercing at the moment , i have both my tragus done for me i get a buzz nice tingly feeling when im piereced either by myself or freind, i have had my wrists , throat, 6 rings up both ears, eyebrows nose , tongue and the little flappy bit under the tongue, few years ago nipples and hmmmm below lol, i cannot believe the price that some people charge to pierce its £45 for tongue , i now just buy my canular needle off the internet and pierce myself, or my 15 yr old daughter has a go , think it all depends on your pain thresh hold , mines seems to be quite high ..you only live once go on go for it .xx

I also have a few piercings, but can not imagine doing it myself.. esp tongue!! Impressive :-P
no i never did my tongue myself lol to dodgy with all them vains about, best getting that done professionally, but wrists and webs belly buttons not that i have a belly bar would not see it for all the rolls of flab i have lol..

Ive had my tongue and belly button pierced before but have taken them out now as my tongue bar had worked its way forward and I would have ended up with alizard tongue if I didnt take it out and I was fed up with it grinding on my teeth!
One scare story about tongue piercing I did hear (But didnt stop me lol) is that a girl had it done incorrectly and found whenever she took it out blood was everywhere, she was told after getting it checked that if she removed the bar she would bleed out and die as the piercer hit the vein smack on and the only thing stopping the flow was the bar :(
She can never take it out but when it starts to work its way out like all piercings do she will need surgery to correct it, dangerous surgery, so be careful when getting piercings and check their records etc and be 100% sure you are happy!!
Im much much more into tattoos now and have 5 already and Im only 22 lol
I plan to have a massive backpiece added to my phoenix between my shoulder blades and the bottom half of my left leg covered too, ooooo and my shoulder covered too.....ahh self modification is a great thing isnt it be it piercing or tattoos! :) :)

Im going to get a massive backpiece started this November as my birthday pressie to myself as Its a big birthday this year and Im not entirely happy about it(infact I shudder when i think of it...I feel like my life is flying by before ive achieved anything but thats another story).I dont want any fuss like a party which has been threatened from my o/h,family and friends.....Ive asked instead of doing this and me being miserable, if they would donate to the cost of my tattoo. They all said yes so Im planning a huge one as one last ditch attempt at me doing something I really want to do before its too late for me to do it....and no I dont mean before i die or anything lol I just mean before the majority of people will think im too old to get it done.
I cant wait to get it started and the buzz you get from having a tattoo done is one I love, you will know what i mean Rach85...im very interested to hear what your planning to get done for yours
By Rach85

Hey Philly :)
My back piece at the moment is a tribal Black Phoenix with shading which is very big as it spans the width of my shoulder blades and goes down my spine a little way :) Its gorgeous and really detailed but with no colour, I want to add a spiral sun on the base of my neck to symbolise sun/fire of the phoenix and then have tribal delicate smoke rising from the base of my spine to eventually making it look like the phoenix is bursting out from the flames and smoke all in black and grey with a little colour for the smoke :)
My cherry blossom on my shoulder will be added to to cover my whole shoulder
my gecko on my foot which spans from tip of my big toe to wrapping round my ankle will be added to and will cover my whole bottom of my leg eventually :)
You are never too old for a tattoo and I wont ever regret mine as I took hell of a long time to find the design, talk to the tattooist etc
Let me know what you end up getting Philly as I already have the foundations for my big pieces :)
Tattoos are such a buzz and the feeling of the buzzing needle is one I can never get enough of!! :)

the feeling of the buzzing needle is one I can never get enough of!!Each to their own I guess - I have one tattoo across the small of my back - I can safely say I will NEVER have another one again, I've never felt pain like it !! However my friend is just the same as you Rach, she loves the feeling of it -I tell her all the time she's crazy :-D

I got 7 tattoo's and loved every minute of them :-)

ive never understood why anyone would want a tattoo, do you not think what they will look like when you are older ? (just a question, each to their own ;) )
By Rach85
Date 07.10.08 14:05 UTC
> do you not think what they will look like when you are older
Yeah I do :)
They will look just as wicked to me as they do now and I wouldnt regret them for a second :)
My tattoos are thought out and not off the wall so are special to me and mean certain points in my life which need to be remembered :)
Tattoos to me are a very personal thing and I want them with me forever :)

I wonder if you will change your mind when you are 60 and wrinkly ;)
By Rach85
Date 07.10.08 14:56 UTC

Nope! ;)
No worries about when Im 70 and old and wrinkly, I will still wear clothing that shows them and not be ashamed to show my tats with pride lol!
I honestly wont be effected by old age with my tattoos as having regrets isnt what Im about and if Id chosen them off the wall in 5 mins then maybe someone would regret having it but my tattoos took alot of careful working out and re-designing so they are mine and unique, my motto is 'No Worries' and Ill live by that forever :)

I must admit I didn't really think of that when I had my tattoo but luckily mine can easily be covered up - I don't think it'll look so hot when I've got grey hair and wrinkles - when you said that it reminded me of that frying pan advert that is currently being shown on the TV :-)

I havent seen that ad, will keep an eye open !

You can get tattoos removed but I believe it is expensive and very painful - a friend of mine has just had one removed (a red devil on the top of her arm - a mistake when she was 18!)

Yeah that advert is doing nothing to help people who are different in their style of dress, their body modifications, piercings ,tattoos etc.
there is way too much predudice in this country against people like this, look what happened to Sophie Lancaster.
Why do they have to portray Tattoos as a bad life choice?....if its done well it shouldnt turn into a black blob that most folk on here seem to think it will...and if some of them doo ,just get them re coloured and theyll be good as new.
Why do they always single out people who choose to live an alternative lifestyle......Why dont they use someone whose 80 odd with and oversized boob job like Jordon used to have to to get the point over.....same thing surely, but no theyd rather add to the already predudiced idiots in this world....
None of my tattoos are mistakes, i thought long and hard before i got mine done, I will not be getting any of them removed as they all have a meaning to me and like someone said earlier ,each to their own why anyone feels the need to pass judgement on what anyone chooses to do with their body,be it on here or in life in general I will never understand, its noones buisness but their own
Sorry I had to have that rant, its been a bad day
