HI Ziggar,

Oh dear, seems like i'll be up against you then!!! Promise to be nice to us cos its our first time! Solo is entered in MP, and P - but we may not go into the second class... we have to see how little so looks next to all the other pups... How old is Dillon?

Dillon is almost 11 months now and very lucky to have reached such an age :D :D :D :D :D
he will be almost 12 months when we are at the SW show
i think its his last time in puppy class before he moves up to junior

is Solo a dog or a girlie ?
Dillons very gentle with girlie dogs but not so with dogs :)

you might as well go in the two classes as its more experience for you both
plus i dont think you can withdraw froma a second class without good reason

Solo is a little boy, who loves absolutely every body and everything, no matter what the sex... gets very frustrating though as he cant understand why the big boy dogs dont like him so much!

My breeder said that i would be able to withdraw fromthe second calss if it didn't look like it would suit him. He is only 7 months on the day of the show so we shall have to see...

If Dillon doesn't like boy dogs we shall have to just wave at each other from a distance! :D

hello all ! please can you help , i want to get into the world of dog showing. My pup has only just been born...so i dont know if she'll be of show standars yet..but if she is i dont know where to start. Its quite a daunting thing because i have no contacts and as a novice you tend to be looked down on.
The breeders didnt show their bitch , but the grandparents are all champions. What would be the first step to take?
At what age does one start showing? and at what type of shows?

Hi Zoebeveridge

you should start off by looking for your local ringcraft classes
if you have a local canine society in your area they will probably be running ringcraft classes somewhere near you

try to get to a local open show to have a look at what goes on and see if its for you
you can also pick up schedules for the upcoming shows near you at the same time
it will also give you a chance to speak to others in your breed and they will be able to poiint you in the right direction hopefully

what breed is it that you have ???

forgot to add that you cant start showing any dog before the age of 6 months
but that doesnt stop you from traing him/her for the showring before then with ringcraft classes
and the easiest way to start off so that you ease yourself into it is with open shows or exemtion shows
although you`d be hard pressed to find any exemption shows before the summer now
but then again your puppy will be 6 months old when the exemptions start up again

Hi Zoe, if you want to show it would have been better if you had gone to a breeder that showed, as you haven't lets hope that your breeder at least knows what she is breeding for and that they are breeding to breed standard with all the usual health tests. When you have your pup join the breed club and take the pup to ringcraft classes, when you have got her into the ring you will need to learn how to groom and trim for the show ring, as your breeder will not be able to help you will have to ask fellow exhibitors for help. Wish you all the best and please remember that showing should be fun, and if you pup is not a winner to the judge it will be with you. Ja:)kie
