Well after speaking to my vet again today I found out the reason why the idexx blood results for confirmation of pregnancy have come back inconclusive.
He informed me that idexx saw a very slight colour change , but they could not decide if it was a positive

colour chage = positive result

no colour change= negative result

has anybody else had a simular experience and what do you all think of this?....Im left non the wiser...

we have had her scanned and no pups was seen, we wanted the blood test as she has shown some signs so wanted to be sure....

i use idexx with my bitch and all have been in whelp, larry roberts who the vet that test the blood rings to a told me either have another blood test  or they are really to go now,
plus i have a good dog here that tell me as well even he's never been to stud he knows what day they are ready to,

I used Idexx once and altho the bitch was in whelp, I am sure she had started to go over and she only had three pups.....

I dont know where you are in the UK but I now use a woman local to me who does a cytology test and also checks bacteria levels from the vagina and three times two seperate bitches went on to have healthy litters of 7.........Both of these bitches can have silent seasons and I found her way much more reliable, you can go back 3 times to check the stages the cells are at...

Idexx may work for some but samples can get delayed in the post, I would check and see if anyone in your area does the cytology service, I think it is more reliable.....

Thanks guys, thats not quite what I mean we did use the cytology before mating her which told us when she was ready.

My problem now is we had the blood test through idexx to test the relaxin levels to see if she had taken but idexx said there was only a slight colour change on the test, so they do not know if she is negative or positive which leaves the test inconclusive, now they have said this could be because she has taken later than we expected and she is in the early stages of pregnancy but too early for the test to pick up enough change in the blood for a full colour change.

I was just wondering if anyone else had this happen to them and what the outcome was?

If the bitch is carrying only a small litter you can get a false result upto day 30  ie no colour change - not pregnant.
However if you re test again a week later then you will definately obtain a colour change ie positive pregnancy  regardless of the size of the litter.

Thanks stud dog, I will see how she goes for now and consider another blood test next wk she was 28 days when they took her blood
