I have been feeding my dogs high oats burns complete then one night when I ran out brought on impulse a bag of chicken & veg Wagg- I of my dogs normally reacts badly to certain foods by getting a pink skin and sores in-between his toes, he has been excellent no skin complaints at all. I asked my local pet store what price for a 15 kg bag and was shocked to find it only £10.99 which I assumed was very cheap as I have been paying out £37 for his other food?? I have another dog that can eat anything so am going to buy this but wanted to know if anybody else had heard of this food?

Yep, and I would consider it a poor grain based food.

One of my former pup owners put their dog on it to save money and it gave him terrible shits and his condition is now poor, no muscle tone at all.

She now thinks he needs more weight (he was fat for a while) I told her it is condition he needs to regain not fat.

You get what you pay for magica - read the ingredients - wouldn't touch it with a barge pole!

thanks for your replies... I did think that when I inquired about the food. The other food I am interested in feeding my old dog snoop due to his pain in his back and legs is one I found called Eukanuba senor as it has glucosamine & chondroitin sulphate in it. I saw for sale at my local chemist in tablet form [obviously for humans] but was worried about the amount of tablets I'm giving him he is on 3/4 tablet of rimadyl a day. He had an operation for a corn on his toe removed on the 1st September but is taking longer to get over it this time- he had the same op in 06 and recovered very quickly.

A friend of mine feeds Wagg and Tripe to her Danes, and her dogs are in beautiful condition, coats gleaming, solid faeces, could'nt ask for any better really, shes buys it for £6.50 a bag!!!

For what it is worth, my fully adult dogs (i.e. ones not growing or having pups) are all on it, all perfectly healthy. Great condition, two of them regularly go to shows. :)

Funny isn't it that as its so cheap we automatically think its kack, I only mentioned it as my snoop is done well on it so far, I have put him on high end food such as AG and within a few days has broken out in sores and bad coat condition??   Up till beginning of the summer was on nutro but after lots of bad reports and trouble with getting hold of a bag stopped and changed to bloody all sorts !!
Thanks for all the advise good to hear both sides to everything.

I do think different foods suit different dogs. Just becuase a food contains good ingrediants and is expensive doesnt automatically mean its good or will improve the dogs condition.
As proved by the fact some people feed their dogs on these so called "cheap and nasty" foods and have thriving animals.

i fully agree freds mum :) i see dogs at work that have glossy coats, beautiful white teeth, sparkling eyes, and you ask the owner what they feed them and its the cheapest nastiest food you can think of. then ive also seen dogs on a RAW diet or premium food that are dull, listless with digestive problems, so i always say to owners, find a food that suits the dog, one they thrive on, one they will eat, one that is easy for you to obtain and one which suits your wallet!

I bought one of the small Chicken & Veg bags for a £1 at Crufts this year and used it as basic treats - you know the 'hello I love you' kind rather than the 'woohoo you've come back to me and didn't chase the sheep' kind.

Rather oddly I decided that there were 2 different sizes in the bag so would you believe I sat and sorted them for an hour on a tray?!  What was I thinking :) ; anyway I kept a handful of small ones in my pocket on every walk and the bigger ones in a pot by the back door for the 'pee on demand', medical inspections, nail clipping, 'hurry up it's raining' treats.

I've just finished that bag and I'm now on the Pedigree Nature stuff that also came from Crufts - it's a bit too greasy for pockets so I may buy another bag of Wagg...
