Topic Dog Boards / Showing / Ringcraft in a 40 min radius of Rye (East Sussex)

Have looked at all the usual websites for ringcrafts & have tried one ringcraft which whilst friendly was in a very small hall & incredibly busy, trying to weave in & out of dogs was entertaining & counterproductive to say the least for my over enthusiastic lad ;-)

Does anyone know of any ringcrafts - daytime or evening.  Know there used to be one in Appledore Kent but believe that has closed.   Barming & Detling just a little too far to justify at the moment.

Already do puppy socialisation & obedience with my pup but really need to do ringcraft with him too as I struggle to walk in a straight line, let alone do a triangle (that's me not the dog!)

I don't know, sorry, and totally off topic, but I used to live in Rye and work in Rye and it is a fab place to live!

Oh it is lovely apart from the lack of ringcraft in the area ;-)

Have everything else doggy, agility/obedience/heelwork to music not to mention the sea......

Did hear of one in Cross-in-Hands which think is your way???  No more details but can find out if useful!

Thanks Rachel. I used to go there many moons ago when I lived near E Grinstead & was showing a dog for a lady in Newick.  Then I moved to Arthurs with my own dogs.

It's about 45 mins from me & so is T Wells & District (another of my old haunts - my goodness I've been around a bit ;-))  Both on Tuesday nights, so may have to just get in the car & stop talking about doing it!!!!  Otherwise that funny lady will come & kidnap her puppy back :-O

Its not so bad - I resisted for ages but now both do it and love it - managed to hold off til Jess was 8 though!  I think I am still resisting pushy mum syndrome though (hope so anyway!!)

Jess also does agility too now - hopefully will keep her off the streets for a while yet!

I can give you the numbers for the Horam one if intereted; and also know of someone involved in Cross-in-Hand.  But there is one at Langley in Eastbourne that is nearer to you - might that be better.  Again I can dig out a name and number for you if you want to enquire.  That one is Tuesdays as well.

They are very friendly at Horam and the hall's not a bad size.

thank you everyone, any info will be greatly received.

I went back to my old training club with & took a friend with her young pup.  We had a lovely evening & were made very welcome by everyone (I also learned an awful lot about handling in a very short space of time ;-))  Will be returning there in a fortnight but would welcome other clubs to try as we're on countdown for LKA (our one & only Ch Show he can go to this year).  He's a cracking pup so I don't want to let him down with my rubbish handling & our joint lack of practice :-O

Thought you said he ahd the brain of a goldfish...hee hee...

Glad you learnt a lot about handling...can you tell me now so i dont get shown up at LKA too with his sister....hee hee....

I said he was a cracking pup (I meant conformation, type & temperament), his brain is a little lacking that's all.  Blame it on the parents :-D

No, keeping all my tips to myself as the club show's coming up & you know how competitive I am ;-)  Will give dd a run for her money on the tantrums anyway :-D
