Topic Dog Boards / Showing / What To Wear Help Please?

I'm wobbling again!

I am unsure about what to wear on Saturday now. I had planned on some brownish trousers and a cream/white shirt/blouse. Is this OK, or should I wear a jacket/suit?

Also, I am worried that I may slip in shoes, so is it OK to wear brown 'fashion trainers' or are shoes more correct?

People seem to wear such different things, and it does seem a bit more casual over here.

Sorry for all the questions!

What you describe sounds fine, I think trainers will be better than shoes, if your clothes feel comfortable you are more likely to feel comfortable, apart from collie-wobbles of course :-D

I agree where what you feel comfortable in and that allows your dog to be show its outline.

Please try to relax - its only a dog show LOL - she says as she remembers her first show and was a total bag of nerves!

I promise you will be fine!  Just enjoy the time with your baby :)  and Good luck :)

Thankyou to both of you.

I feel quite excited about it now and can't wait for it to come round! I am just worrying about silly details now though!

As long as you can move freely and it isn't the same colour as your dog it will be fine. :-)

Hi jackson

what you're planning on sounds fine - it's important to have clothes which feel comfortable and allow you to move freely, once less thing to worry about :)

re footwear, look HERE read and research thoroughly then let us know what you decided ........

a girl's gotta try :-D )

The advice on comfort is excellent.  And as for shoes I would simply go with the best for you to move your dog which is probably the trainers.  Some people will be very smart and others quite casual so it is entirely up to you as long as your colour complements the dog ie black dog, light clothes etc.

It sounds fine what you have got planned!! They are judging the dog not you lol!

Although... shiny shoes are a good idea only because they reflect the dog well! If that makes sense.

Thankyou. That's a relief! Trainers it is then.

Teri, I have mucker boots for the stables, they're horribly uncomfy IMO. I usually go for either not very waterproof yard boots, or wellies.

I'll get me coat...

LOL - I had to try :-D

Me's liking the looks of a whole different suggestion a certain (nameless to protect her shame) GR person is swayed towards .........

But it's back to basics on the yard boots then :-D

(traumatised) Teri

If you imagine yourself as the background to a picture of your dog, then pick colours that both compliment the dogs coat colour, yet, help it to stand out. Re shoes, soft soled flat shoes are ideal, however if your dog has white feet, I would suggest any colour but white trainers, as when you are standing next to the dog the feet appear to blend in with your own, same applies to other colours of course. The most important thing is for you to be comfortable, if you wear layers you can adjust to the weather conditions.
