Hye, I'm sitting here trying to keep myself awake as my girlie is finally in whelp.  She is still at the panting stage but I was just wondering if any body else on this forum was due puppies shortly.  It can be quite lonely at this time of night.lol.  Oh well, better go and make another coffee then.
- By tessisbest [gb] Date 23.09.08 00:41 UTC
no puppies due, im at work !!!! but i can say hello to you, hows it going?
- By pepsi mum [gb] Date 23.09.08 02:53 UTC
It's a slow un.  Gypsy is still panting although I don't think it'll be long till she starts to get full on contractions.  I've just decided to change back into my jeans and sweatshirt again as I was looking a little ridiculas trapesing round the garden in my dressing gown, wellies and a flashlight.lol.  I think we could still be here in the morning at this rate but I don't mind, you can't rush these things after all.  She's just decided to take a nap bless her so maybe I should do the same but I'm scared I'll not wake up again as I'm passed knackered.  Think I'll go and make a cup of tea.

MY girl was really good to me 8 weeks ago and had her Pups before 11.30pm at night starting about 7pm, only thing was she had been restless from 2am the night before and I hadn't had anything but catnaps the night before, so after I was sure she had finished it was about 3am, and we all finally got some sleep, but ti was her second litter so I had less worry about her lying on a pup, and I would wake at the least squeak.

It was so much easier this time sharing the watching duties with someone else, and he has really taken poo patrol seriously with whipping up any poo in the garden almost before it hit the ground!

Amazing how much a litter of pups plus four adults can poo..

Gypsy is still panting but now she has started to loose a little fluid from behind and is cleaning up after herself.  I was a little worried there when I checked the colour of it.  It is quite clear bit did have a ever so slight green tinge to it.  Rang my mentor (got her out of bed!)  and she said to keep an eye on it but as long as it's not dark green it should be ok. Any one else got any thoughts on that?  Cheers.

How exciting for you!

>my girlie is finally in whelp.

(To be accurate, she's been in whelp (pregnant) for weeks - she's now in labour. I expect it's the excitement and tiredness that made you make that mistake!)

You know all my litters have came during the day. Never though the night :-)  not that I Would sleep anyway but not one through the night.  Sat up many nights though.

Just a quick update, we are on puppy number 5 at the moment and everything up to now has gone fine, she's doing everything herself.  Better go as I don't think shes finished yet.  Cheers.

Your lucky Pam, most of mine have been  born during the night or about 6ish in the morning after sitting up all night with the bitch.

Any news? it's makes me realise how much hard work it is, and how much input goes into rearing a litter, being a non breeder myself. :)
Hope it won't be long now, how exciting! :-p

Good luck to you too Pugnut, all my bitches whelp through the night, im quite used to staying up all night now, your female should be fine Pugnut, im always relieved when they start delivering as i hate the build up to it, will she start today will she not?
- By pepsi mum [gb] Date 23.09.08 15:02 UTC
Well I think the final tally is going to be 8.  She has had 4 girls and 4 boys.  She was fantastic.  Managed to do everything herself and they literally fell out of her.  She cleaned up everything herself and she is feeding them and tending to them really nicely.  I have yet to convince her to go out for a wee but she is still very wobbley on her legs and is wanting to rest for a while.  I will try her a little later.  Will keep you up dated.  I need to go and sit down myself for a while, my back and knees are killing me and I can hardly keep my eyes open.lol.

My other bitch had her litters in the morning, within two hours and just in time for lunch lol! Far too simple for my Edie, I can guarantee she'll be a 3am mumma ;-) :-D

Glad mum and pups are doing well :)
- By Emz77 [gb] Date 23.09.08 16:36 UTC
glad to hear everything has gone smoothly well done to you all. I am all prepped up for a night time whelping, I'm sure the awkward cuss that she can be will do it all at an ungodly hour
