I'm sure there are many but it would be grossly unfair as much as unrealistic to expect everyone to hold your passion for voluntary work, don't you think?  Not everyone is cut out for it never mind has sufficient free time to offer to become involved and as we shouldn't pigeon hole every individual or household on what we personally feel they 'ought' to be doing, then IMO skipping the dog training routine regime doesn't make them any less caring or compassionate than you

for a start I never said or implied I was. I'm the last person in this earth to belieeve I am better than other peolle or I'd not be a mug and give up my time so much without getting paid! lol. Maybe if others are not doing this we should stop being so daft and stop helping out.

Anyway we are discussing people who are bent of destroying the good work the KC has been doing because of something they watched on TV and I think their time could be spent more constructively and they could look for themselves into what really is going on out in the real world.

I am sure the majority of people here are giving up their time as volunterrs helping give a better quality of life to dogs and their owners. We have plenty of people here who help run various classes in some capacity of instructing handlers and their dogs, we have judges who give up time to judge at shows as well as no doubt giving their time in the week in other related capacities.  It's not that these people are in any way more caring etc but they are doing something that needs to be done. Yes they enjoy it but I bet most of them would welcome a little more help! lol. At least at some time.   Or there will come a point that there are less and less people mucking in.

I'd kind of assumed that most people on here did this in some capacity not that I fantastic for doing this but that I was like you lot and also doing my bit . Even if we offer to help out a events or at the odd show and so on it's all a part of being involved and helping keeping things going.

Hell I'd forgotton what this board was like for statements being used against you in whatever way possible! lol.

Pedigree Dogs Exposed yep great show! Informative honest and fact packed. Lets all boycot Crufts because the media are always right!  ;)

Good grief - that's a bit of a weight on the shoulders of the GP don't you think?  Do you suppose if they watch with the same interest and belief a documentary on Hiroshima they will somehow become responsible for wider ranging nuclear weapons

PP and the BBC would be loving this fallout I'm sure ..... perhaps you would fare better to read some of the letters and emails of support sent to the dog press and KC themselves, many from pet owning members of the public who were horrified that good breeders and best practice was being targetted so inappropriately.  See, some of these TV watching couch potatoes can actually WRITE ;)

>and I think their time could be spent more constructively and they could look fr themselves into what really is going on out in the real world.

In the real world there is poverty, drought, famine, disease, wars, dictatorships, earthquakes - people living or sometimes basically only just surviving through hell on earth that we can only learn about through the media.  Many of those who do learn of such things will put their hand in their pocket and help, will go out to makeshift camps and try to physically help those directly suffering or will work tirelessly here to raise funds, clothing, blankets, medical equipment etc and not one will spout of their "constructively spent time"

Why would you be sure?  I'm not :)  Unless of course you want to count a few posts (OK, a lot LOL) on a dog forum sometimes covering behaviour, training or dietary issues   Doesn't make me a bad person!

> I'd kind of assumed that most people on here did this in some capacity not that I fantastic for doig this but that I was like you lot and also doing my bit . Even if we offer to help out a events or at the odd show and so on it's all a part of being involved and helping keeping things going

Neither you nor I have any idea what most people on here do - why should we?  Some may do amazing things to help the greater good behind closed doors others may have so many troubles, financial or health issues in their private life that quite honestly the world off dogs in any capacity is very low in their priorities.

While I admire your passion please do not turn it against those of us who are basically all on the same side!

Assuming,of course, that one agrees with that statement !
I personally agree with much of the content of the programme and have never been entirely comfortable with producing an animal for the sole purpose of winnng.
I also feel that human beings deserve a great deal of my time and my 'spare' time is often taken up with that species.

An hysterical knee jerk reaction to a TV programme serves little and I found nothing new in that particular broadcast.
Other than create a proliferation of sentimentalist running around like headless chickens, I feel it will just strengthen the resove of the already well informed, caring dog breeders/lovers to do their best for their animals.
