Topic Dog Boards / General / Thank Goodnes for Emergency Vets

I know vets sometimes come in for a little heckle now and again because of cost and ambiguous advice etc, however, this weekend I nominate Cheeklaw Vets in Duns for outstanding service.  We were on holiday last week and had been out for the day on Saturday (it's always the weekend isn't it?)  Copper had helped himself to a large quantity of water under a cockle van.  As there is always water bowls for dogs everywhere in the Borders I didn't think too much of it (I know, foolish).  Not too long back at our caravan he was vomiting for Scotland.  After several hours of this I phoned the local emergency vets who immediately agreed to see him.  Their excess cost £53 cheaper than in Edinburgh!  It was still costly but my mind was put at rest.

While I was paying, OH put dog in car (which was engine running, keys in) then came back to speak to me in the vets.  Meanwhile Copper had danced all over the front of the car and stepped on the central locking button.  So keys in car, dog in car, engine running, all doors locked.  Ah.  The vets were outstanding.  Cups of tea, didn't mind waiting over ONE HOUR for the RAC to come and rescue us, very kind.  10 out of 10.  And if you have that button on the console near the handbrake.  DO NOT put your dogs in the front of your car.  And thank goodness it was OH's fault :)

I was only really concerned about the dog lol.  But having had his anti sickness injection he was curled up asleep the whole time.  I really must write to Nissan about the placement of that button as well!

Just glad he didnt hit the heat button or even worse the handbrake, that would of been difficult to do though.. Glad everything worked out tho and glad he is out of the car safe and sound :)

At last the dog styed calm and you didnt need to do anything drastic like break one of the window. Alls well that ends well. Im sure over dinner it will be a story to tell guests and blame yur OH for at the same time :-) Ideal :-)
