I received this email today from one of the vets at work.

Hi

There was an alarming report in the veterinary press very recently about a dog that had had it's tongue removed by a shredder at home left on standby. Having seen cats with tongue injuries due to opened cans I can appreciate that the only cause of action was euthanasia.

If you have this combination at home please take care.
It may be worth telling friends that you know.

OMG!!! The poor thing, thats well sad. Its terrible that!! Make sure they are unplugged, ill be telling my dad to keep his unplugged, even tho the dogs dont tend to go in there, its not worth the risk!

Always worth highlighting again as we always have new members. :-)

My girl can not get into my office so no worries there, but oh, the thought of something like that happening, just makes me feel ill. I even add it to my puppy packs now, as shredders are so common now, and you really wouldn't think about it unless told.

OMG! I just saw this post and went straight into OH's study and - guess what - the shredder sits on the floor under the desk and is left on standby!

Have unplugged it and moved it, and will *definitely* be having words later.

Thanks for the tip.
