This may sound a stupid question but does anyone know the exact meaning behind a dog's licks? I have read on other sites that when a dog is head of it's pack it cleans the other dogs. So would this mean that my dog is confused with his place in the pack? I have no other reason to think this to be true but no matter what I try it doesn't seem to help, I would like to know why my dog constantly wants to lick me to death and whether or not it is a good thing to let him do.

I would have said it was the other way round, a subservient thing. Out of interest your dog's not a Flatcoat is it?

Don't know the answer to that Karen but yes, human sweat does contain a large amount of salt so I suppose it could just be true. (Except J's of course and his is pure malt!)

My pack leader/dominant bitch doesn't lick people or other dogs only
herself. My other bitches will lick me.
Pam

My youngest bitch has a foot fetish, and will spend ages licking my feet, and nibbling any rough areas. Am I a pervert, do I need help, as I find this ENJOYABLE,LOL :0
