Ive had a litter and they are going this weekend. My bitch started growling and snapping at her pups when they were 6 weeks but only if it was all of them.. with one she was fine and happy (maybe she didnt feel so bombarded) she came down with a bug and had to be seperated from them as she went on antibiotics... her milk has now dried up and when we put our puppy in with her (her 8 week old daughter which we are keeping) she follows her puppy everywhere and paws her and gets over exited...

What would you do?

I found that my bitch has moderated her play with the pup I kept.  At first she was quite gentle but now (5 months old) they play quite roughly and sound as if they are killing each other (terriers!) they chase up and down with a tuggy toy and in general create mayhem for a while, then they crash out and kip.  then it starts over again :-D

Personally, I'd just keep an eye on them and if it's getting a bit rough or pup looks like it isn't coping, give them some time out.  I have a crate, baby gate and the option of a separate room for the older ones so baby gets some one on one and the older ones get some relief from the madness ;)

I also leave only two together in the kitchen when I go out, the other one is in the living room.  Pup sleeps in crate at night to aid toilet training and 'alone' training ;)

Agree 100% about the playing too, our bitch was very careful, too careful we thought, with our new puppy and while he still had his ''Puppy License'' lol But now he is nearly 7 months old and the ''puppy License'' has expired she doesnt let him get away with so much, wont let him nick her bones anymore and they have great playtimes, sometimes rough and sometimes not, depends on their mood :)

It really does sound like she is just having fun with her baby girl after all the pup will grow up and its good to have boundaries between the 2 which they understand and get to grips with by play :)
Why not join in with a tug toy or treat training to distract the pup/mum if your unsure of how rough they should play :)
Honestly, it took me a couple of months to get used to Stafford play ( I know you dont have staffords but you can imagine the shock of the noise lol) and how rough they get sometimes lol but it IS the norm for all dogs and puppies! :)
