Hi there been having a look online at different boxes
What are peoples opinions about the cardboard ones??
also been checking out the link-a-board whelping boxes .. has anyone used one of these?
or is there any other make that you would all recommend?
Would appreciate some help in making a choice as the Hubby was going to make one but when we looked into it not much difference in price to by ready made ones?

my hubby made ours it cost about 35pound ,and can be used again and again ,i think it depends on the size you need ...if u only need a small one then theres not much in the price but we had a large one wanted planty of room !x

I used to use the cardboard Newborn ones. They are very good, withstand cleaning well and last until the pups are ready to go if you use it as the pups bed too. However stains dont clean off easily, you end up scrubbing away the top layer of paper and it never looks 'clean' no matter how much you disinfect it. They are good value for money and you can recycle them after. Very handy for if you only plan on having a one off or occasional litter.

This time round I've brought a Link-a-Bord one. Looking forward to ease of cleaning and no stains! :-D

I bought a link-a-board whelping box last year and it is being used again at the moment with our 3 wk old pups.  I would definetely recommend it, especially as it is really easy to keep clean.

I like the new dog boxes and will be using them again (hopefully) I also LOVE the non ruck whelping mats from New Dog as my old lady was a demon digger  :))

We use a childs paddling pool for whelping and the first couple weeks. We buy two, so we can quickly put the pups in the clean one and it causes the minimum of fuss to Mum and the pups. Our dogs loves it cos she can rest her head on the side and its flexible enough for puppies not to get caught and not be able to breath. Once there isnt enough room (or they are climbling out) we have them in a box which is built into the corner of the room. Basically its 2 pieces of melamine hooked to the wall that can be opened from one hook when they are larger, so they can run into the kitchen and straight out into the garden when they are old enough. When we start weaning, the big crate goes in that box, they then sleep in there and Mum is with them at night (she can hop over the sides of the box) We find this all works very well
