- By hairy skye [gb] Date 08.09.08 21:54 UTC
for 3 days my bitch has been acting really strange, she shakes and acts nervios and this is not her?
shes never been told off in her life as shes allways been good so why is she shakeing when i come home and on a nite time, its been 3 days and she never ate  normal for 2 days ????? help please!~michelle
also shes never left at home long by her self

I would take her to the vet.  It sounds as though she is unwell.  I could be an infection.  Has she been spayed?
- By hairy skye [gb] Date 08.09.08 22:04 UTC
no shes not been spayed, shes ate a little bit but never leave a single drop off food normally.
but she seems herself in every other way barking quite happy.
runs around fine she doesnt seem unwell in herself?? x

> she doesnt seem unwell in herself?? x

She is shaking, not eating and acting out of character that would be a concern to me.

Just be warned. My old bitch wast herself for a few days, I couldnt put my finger on what was wrong, as there werent any signs, I just knew she wasnt right. thinking it was a stomach bug or something I left her. I went to work on the monday and came home to find a very messy kitchen. rushed her to vets and turns out she had pyometria and was operated on the next day.
I am not saying thats whats wrong, but if you know something isnt right with her, and it is nothing obvious like a stomach bug (sickness and dodgy stools) then take her to the vet to be on the safe side as it has been going on for more than 24-48 hours  :)

Glad it's nothing serious :) they are such a worry at times.
- By Golden Lady [gb] Date 09.09.08 19:53 UTC
if it continues I would get a second opinion
- By hairy skye [gb] Date 09.09.08 20:08 UTC
ill give her a day or two and see how she goes
must say she ate her tea tonight and is now fast asleep on the sofa
she did have a shaking jaw when i came home from picking kids up from school
- By lilys serenity [gb] Date 10.09.08 13:16 UTC
The shaking jaw could just be excitement, a bitches hormones fluctuate tremendously which could explain the obscure eating habits and so long as the vet "okays" her you should just act normal around her as she could pick up on your tension and act differently.

my youngest bitch has what I describe as "a fit of the funnies" just as she is coming into season....she can be asleep or sitting calmly, when all of a sudden she'll jump up like she's been bitten on the bum and hare round the room!! LOL it's so funny!! and then it's a matter of keeping en eye on her and checking her bits for swelling and bleeding so I can pinpoint her season

if this is your girls's first season it may give you an indication of early warning behaviour??
