I'm looking to buy a small show lead, I would ideally would like a leather one, both leads I have are much too big and they are the smallest nylon ones I could find. :-) :-) Any ideas where I can try looking online. Lois :-)

I buy all my leads from Deva Dogware, you can google them or they are at some of the champ shows.

I'm still having trouble getting hold of a suitable show lead for my small breed puppy, I have two which are too big, I have ordered one that has turned up and again is too big, only a tad but seems to be very uncomfortable for puppy, can anybody suggest a comfortable show lead for a small breed puppy, I need to get hold of one ASAP. Thanks Lois ;-)

Hi Jeff, Not seen this before, do you know where i maybe able to view / buy from? Thanks Lois

A lot depends on what breed - I use either lambskin slide leads or a rolled soft leather one for the pugs.  However they would be too borad for a Chihuahua, for instance.  Hub do some lovely, realy fine nylon suitable for very tiny toy breeds, but I think their leather ones are too hard, as are most of the ones I see with the show traders. I got my most recent from Jubilee leather - ordered online and they delivered 2 days later.

Thanks for that.

Another quick question. Is it always best to show on a black lead?

Depends on the colour of the dog.  I like ot match the lead ot the dogs colour as closely as possible, so the lines from neck are not spoiled.

Have you considered a standard thin nylon show slip (3mm width) that adjusts to the dog.  They look like a piece of string with a loop at the bottom.  Probably the most common lead out there.  Here is a link to one as an example

And the colour you choose should compliment your dog so black lead on a white dog is a no no.  I have black and tan dogs on black and my red and choc dapple on a tan coloured one.  But I always opt for a super thin lead so you dont see it too much which is why I dont have the leather one as they are always too bulky and difficult to roll up in your fist.

I buy leather leads from Accolade Leather and non-leather from Luxway (although I beleive they also do leather) - very pleased with both and had extremely helpful assistance.

I've always got my leather leads from Luxway, though i know some people say that they charge more, but i have to say i am pleased with the quality of the collars and leads i have purchased.
